I have played halo pc, and the one thing i noticed about the use of bansees in multiplayer is that it's not impossible, but too hard to take them down. I don't think it's that i have a low skill level, it's just that the people who get in the banshee, sit there and just "camp" by bases and kill respawners. which believe it or not i'm ok with as long as there is plenty of anti-aircraft weaponry. Now my post is not about Halo PC it's about Halo 2, halo 2 will have flying vehicles in it, and i think the key to making them balanced is to implement good anti-aircraft weaponry. Maybe the warthog rocket launcher should have a tracking system, becos right now unless you have impeccable timing it's very hard to bring one down. What do yous think? What are some good ways of keeping Aircraft balanced in Halo 2?

Its not too hard to take down a banshee. Just use a pistol and shotgun.

see i knew i would get this kind of response, are you talking like when the banshee is up in your grill? cos the banshee can get to whoever is shooting it pretty quick, and take you out with the fuel rod, i'm asking for good anti-aircraft ideas, and i think the stationary turrets are a step in the right direction...

What he said, plus, there will be far more turrets in Halo 2 <cite: OXM June 2003> some of these I'm sure will be meant as AA guns, I'm sure.

To use the fuel rod, they must dive straight at you. Just shoot them with a rocket launcher then.

possibly the new levels and the bases might have turrets at them but there could be anti-air rockets also for ideas from bungie you can go to the Evolution of halo video on Gamespot it shows al lot of weapons they might have had in the original they could use some of these in Halo 2 for balancing

this is implying that I have a rocket launcher, so you are saying i should have to always have to lug a rocket launcher to take out oncoming banshees?

just imagine if they had banshees on Sidewinder... 2 banshees camping your spawn, just holding the left trigger and hovering, 1 shooting the fuel rod cannon at the teleport and the other shooting the outside of the base..

Just use a whole clip of AR on it then its shields will go down. thats when you switch to the pistol and kill em. And the banshee is very unbalanced.

i like the turrets on bases, those are good ideas, and from what i've seen on PC banshee dogfights are extremely boring, and they take too long to bring down the opposition...

This is why the banshee must be balanced. It will make game play much more exciting due the fact that you enter the banshee knowing that you have an equal chance of getting taken down and taking others down, in PC that is not the case.
Personally i look as vehicles as more of transports than weaponry. But A+ to the guys who are awesome with vehicles, you need guys like that on your team

There is a chance that the rocket hog will have a tracking system in Halo 2... Frankie said he was toying with it...

You guys are a bunch of pansies! All you need to do to destroy a Banshee is to rely on the fact that pilors are often cocky and love to run over infantry. If you charge them while they rea flyinat you, they almost always will overshoot you. So as they pass over you, throw a plasma grenade straight up and -BOOM!-. Then you can take their Banshee and go camp out at their base. But a flak cannon would be nice, maybe plasma flak like they have in the '03 E3 trailer, or the AA needler cannons that are in First Strike.

In my opinion, the shotgun is the cure for everything.
A low-passing banshee can only take two or three well placed shotgun sprays before it explodes in fiery death. Same goes for almost any other vehicle, the splash that the shotgun has means that the vehicle, and the driver consequently, take maximum damage.

I don't think Banshees should be made to be on equal ground with infantry, that just doesn't make sense. I know on PC banshees can be taken down, but if a pilot is smart enough to keep his distance and pound at you with the fuel rod gun after your shields are lowered, then you're going to have a hard time taking him out with just your pistol and shotgun.

I think the rocket launcher is way too much of an anti-infantry weapon than an anti-vehicle weapon. Come on, it's 25XX and we only have dumb fire rockets?. I think we ought to have some self guidance or at least laser guided rockets with dumb fire as a secondary option. If not that, then we ought to have a rail-driver type gun that fires a high-speed giant spike or bolt into vehicles, thus tearing a nice big hole in them.
What I'm saying is, if you have a rocket (an AV weapon by nature) you should blow the tobacco juice out of anybody in a vehicle if they don't shoot you first, but if somebody is flying around in a banshee and all you have is a machine gun then you should be a smoking crater.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

No one has mentioned the gauss cannon (one from E3 2003) yet. I believe this will be the ultimate anit-vehicle weapon.
