Okay, when I try to connect to Xbox LIVE throughHalo 2 it says "System Update required." I click the OK button, when I do this it reverts back to the old Xbox original screen (the old green and 3Dish appearrence.) which makes no sense because I'm on an Xbox 360 Elite. So, when it tries to install the update it say xbox LIVE is not responding please try again later. I tried before and after the NXE. I also called Microsoft, and after spaking with a VERY ...coughf, caughf, TALIBANI, coughf sounding person I cleared my cache and then restarted Halo 2, It installed a short update but the put me back into the old Xbox original screen, please help me.

Ouch!

You mentioned the old dash as being an odd thing. You will have to sign-on through the old dash but I assume you know that.

Also, most problems stem from the downloaded maps, not the cache and they must all be deleted.

When I said the "old Dash" I meant from the original Xbox system, I was not talking about the Xbox 360 "Blades" I actually meant the old system, and I haven't downloaded anything for H2.
plus, how am I going to sign in on the old Dash, (I assume you mean the Blades after the NXE installation?
One of my freinds said they made a version of H2 that came out for the Xbox 360, is taht true?

Let's start over.

When you turn the 360 console on (without any game), you can sign-on, right?

When you put in H2 (H2 does play on 360) it loads the old H2 xbox menu (can't get around this).

You then press start, then choose profile and your GT should be visible (it will be between 'Don't Sign-in' and 'Register New Account'). If your GT is not there, it is not because of H2.

If GT is there, click and you will still be on the old H2 xbox menu. The menu will have you select Campaign or Xbox Live or Split Screen or System Link or Settings. Choose 'Xbox Live' and your chosen profile and GT should appear.

From there, press 'A' to continue and then you can choose gametype or you can download content (maps). Stop here and go to the 360 dash (System Settings) and delete maps for H2 if they are saved. Once you make sure any old maps are eliminated, go back in and redown. In order to redown, you must sign-in again.

I know you know most of this stuff but I'm just trying to clarify. At what point, during the process I describe above, does it go wrong for you?

When playing a 360 it is impossible to have the old (original) xbox dash come up, if that's what you meant. At least I've never heard of it. If I were you, I'd delete (from 360 dash) anything and everything that has to do with H2 and start over.

Ok, Ok, After I click on my GT, It says, system update required, I say OK, It searches, then says, Xbox LIVE is not responding, try again Later. then it logs me out of Xbox LIVE.

The old Dashboard does appear, but you cannot do anything on it, it only shows a bar when the game is being updated.

Sounds like it's a microsoft problem, as long as you have a gold account. Two other people I've talked to that had this problem say it fixed itself after a while. My guess is that MS knows it's wrong on their end but they can't fix it until they can refresh their server(s). I'm told they will do this every couple of weeks at a slow (usage) period because they cannot refresh for every complaint.

Just to make sure your router (sometimes they have firewalls) is not blocking your GT, plug the 360 Cat5 directly into your modem and try again.

If you have gold, your Family Settings are Allowed, you deleted any and all maps, you cleared the cache and you can get to the point where the system wants to update, it should work.

On your comp, go to 'Network Connections' via 'Control Panel'. Dbl click 'Local Area Connection' and you will see 'Local Area Connection Status'. Click on 'Support' and you will have the assigned addresses for your connection. Leave that last screen on your desktop while you try and get the update again. Watch the numbers and if they don't go blank when it says 'cannot communicate', it is definitely an MS problem.

If the numbers vanish, try plugging directly into your modem (like I suggested).

I have the same problem where it won't let me sign into xbox live playing Halo 2 only on my downstairs 360. My upstairs 360 will let me play it, but it's on my big tv, and I don't do as well.

My downstairs 360 is one that won't let me. I got RROD, so I sent it in, bought a 360 arcade to "get me by" and when my repaired one came back, I stuck it upstairs with the $30 refurbished hard drive from MS. So, I am using my original hard drive on the 360 arcade one that I bought, and the old 360 with a refurbished hard drive (just clarifying).

I have cleared the cache, delete the maps, deleted any incomplete downloads, or anything with the yellow caution triangle in my hard drive. I have an open nat, and even tried plugging my downstairs 360 directly to my modem...Same problems.
I also have everything enabled as far as family settings and xbox live access goes.
