This may have been mentioned before but...

Hey in the halo 2 e3 video, at one point after the air support comes in the chief and some odst go in and take out some grunts. At one point the odst throughs a sort of flash bang granade, i know this because all the grunts were just standing around like it was tea time or somthing. I wonder what other kinds of granades the bungie guy are cooking up.

What do you think

why were they all just standing around and letting the guys take them out.

It was the scene under all the bridge crap that looked to be melted, before the wart hog part!

Because the frag grenade didn't kill them.. Just listen to the marine talk that throws the grenade... He specifically says "FRAGMENTATION" which is what frag in frag grenades stands for...

if it was a frag gernade those grunts would be slaughtered ALL OVER THE LITTLE CORRIDER. It doesnt even sound liek a frag and it doesnt look like on.

It makes the grunts do sing a long.

Maybe you misherd...
Maybe he said Flash Bagn. THat sorta sounds like Fragmantation (while bullets are flying around you head and half the speed of light)

And why did all the marines and The MC turn away, if it was only a frag.

*note* do not correct me on the speed of light crap, it is just an analogy

I just listened to it and he doesnt say flash bang or fragmentation, he says "Frag and Clear". And if you watch the tape after he throws the grenade there is blood around the grunts and jackles that wasnt there before he throws it. And when the grenade blows up its orange, which is the color of the frags in halo 1. And flash bangs dont usually cause that much blood. It probally landed to far away not to kill them but to stun them and injure them.

Twelve Large ²

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

It was a glitch in the matrix.

It's possible they didn't react because it was too dark to see in the corridor.

just another fan is smart. At least s/he has read around to realize this information. Now come on people how hard is it to pick up a magazine or click on an official thing said by Bungie and read?

But you have to look at it like this, if it was a Flash Bang then what dose bungie have in store for "only can dream", but dont you think if it was a flash bang it would have been nice to have in halo.

Why do you need a flash bang if you could just kill em right away with a frag?

First of all: how unfriendly.
Second, what's the use of flash bangs? The most useless grenade ever.
if there are going to be new grenades, they'll be alot better then some ridiculous flash bang grenade.

Actually a flash bang is the most usefull grenade ever becasue if you want to take someone alive. But this is halo and we all want the Covie bastards dead so it would be a very useless grenade unless of course you dont have any frags.
Anywho I dont know if flash bangs will get in halo 2 as they were not shown in the E3 demo.
That grenade is indeed a frag with a new stunning effect. The marine did clearly say 'Frag and Clear' there are dead grunts where there were live ones. It is a Frag.

I'm pretty sure it was a frag too. Anyway, if a frag went off just far enough where you'd survive it with only moderate injury, then your ears would be just about shot because of the loud blast (like they did in ghost recon) and if you were looking at it, then you'd be almost blinded by the light from the blast.

Either way, I still want to use flashbangs in halo2. I like the idea of using them in multiplayer, since frags almost never do the job by themselves, and you wouldn't have to worry about dead flag-campers to respawn on top of you as you leave the base with the flag. Heh heh, would be fun to irritate your friends by spamming them with flashbangs and keep them blinded and deaf for as long as you can keep throwing 'em.

i went back and watched the e3 vid and thier is some blue blood on the ground, but normaly a granade would blow the grunts away like in halo one. WHY WERE THEY JUST STANDING THERE DUMBFOUNDED!

Remember guys...It was mentioned in hmmm i think at was an update or an interwiev that stun granades would be included i Halo 2. Granades that made a shockwave that would stun covenants...Sorry i don't remember where i heard it, but i am very sure! Someone remember where it was mentioned?

No, the stun is an effect from all grenades. There is no specific stun grenade per se.

  • 04.23.2004 3:38 PM PDT

There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who know binary, and those who don't.

i can personally assure that the new frag grenades in halo 2 have a stun area added around the damage area and possibly overlapping it. it leaves enemies in the radius stunned for at least a moment. this indicates that there will not be any flashbangs(bungie isnt one for being redundant with weapons choices, and hell they'll prolly stick with the original two types, but u never kno), and that rather it was a frag which did not hit the actual covenant but was close enough to stun them. simple really.

now my opinion. no there are not flashbangs, its just a stun from a frag. thats it. also, IT TOOK U THAT LONG TO NOTICE??? i saw that the very first time i looked at that video, and immediately look up some info on it, instead of debating pointlessly on the forum. come here for ideas. but u sadly wont get too many facts here, and especially not facts u can trust. there will be people questioning what i say here. just wait they'll be here soon enough, unless someone believes me for once. i kno virtually every piece of public info concerned with halo and i'm proud. but no oneever bothers paying attention, and i cant find my sources(they're around here sumwhere) to cite them[read: i'm too lazy to go get them].
