in halo 2 we all know vehicle damage is introduced, which means..eventual destruction! hehehe! but...then what happens!? i dont expect some lousy old"vehicle respawn" i think it would be awesome if you received a new vehicle from a pelican dropship! what do you all think about this..? i dont care if you flame me...but i dont enjoy it...lol

that would be awesome. but even better if that happened right after a huge detailed explosion.

then your target got away

being a conventional sniper, i know what you meen but if they were to drop it from a pelican than (hopefully) the would do it at a certian altitude but then wouldn't that destroy it?hmm well its a good idea and if bungie was to do something like that im sure theyd figure out a way to get the vehicle on the land, island etc.

yeah and that would also create some unecessary lag. and what if u r fighting someone and a dropship comes and drops a scrorpion tank right on ur head? that would blow.

here is my idea but is probably far from any action bungie will take on this matter. when a vehicle gets damaged wouldnt it be cool if you could then holster your weapon and stand by a busted vehicle and a meter would pop up on screen to show vehicle health or whatever and slowly it would refill as if you were repairing it. now to keep it balanced you would be defenseless so you would have to have backup cause you would have to be facing the vehicle to fix it. this idea would introduce a whole new gameplay element that i think would be very cool.

thoughts?

my idea wouldnt use any buttons you would just stand by the trashed vehicle

but yeah all the other ideas floating arond the forums would take a lot of buttons perhaps the d-pad will be used this time around

it probably will be, between sprinting, peeking, crouching, and all those maneuvers bungie probably has planned but hasn't revealed. i would like to have the ability to lay down, at least

they didn't have the dpad, but i'm positive it's in now. maybe they could use the dpad like ghost recon, and have clicking in left thumbstick left to sprinting.

Whats the point in laying down? Your head is exposed for snipers and you cant move as quick and you get no added accuarcy because it doesn't involuntarily shake when you scope in.

not sure if i like the 'going prone' idea, but i like the feature of not being able to fall off cliffs while crouching thats in a few games. UT2004 one of them.

there is nothing wrong with using cool features from other games to improve new ones. nearly every decent fps after halo stole the dual thumbstick control setup because it worked so damn well

you're body is less exposed, harder to see, and thus harder to hit.

If you click in the left analogue stick, you crouch....

My theory on the D-Pad:

Up: hold down to sprint. When you let go you stop sprinting
Left: Glance left
Right: Glance right
Down: (my idea) Possibly do a quick 180 degree turn to prevent being snuck up on. It would be quicker than moving the right analogue stick which took a while and swat teams and stuff do it all the time to check their surroundings. Also to do it, you would need to take your thumb off the left stick meaning your temporarily stationary for snipers to kill you and your attackers to hide.

Errmm...halo isnt the first game to use the left stick=move, right stick=look. Lots of other games used it like goldeneye (except with the d-pad, not the left stick) and timesplitters. So, I dont know what the hell your talking about.

yeah i agree but i dont like the idea. BF1942 has tons more players so there is more stuff going on and more focus on using vehicles. i think doing it would break up the fun gameplay. the MC is a soldier not a mechanic evern though he probably does know how to fix them.
it could lead to balance issues. someone spawn camps u in a tank and he also has a guy sitting there fixing it for everytime u get a lucky shot off.

1. if it takes too long, turn up you're look sensetivity.
2. here's what i meant.

click left thumbstick:sprint, since left thumbstick moves you, it is convinient.
dpad:
press down once, you crouch, press it again, you go prone.
press up while crouched to stand up, and press it while prone to go crouched.
press left, you peek left,
press right, you peek right.
