well...if your computer can't start up,there's little you can do. just for the future, back up your "my documents" folder regularly. it has all the saved halo games, and hopefuly your saved documents
what you should try is putting in your OS disk and see if there is a repair option.....

Heyyo,

Have you tried starting windows in safemode? or even better, have you tried doing that "Last Known Good configuration" option?

Nothing you can do but reinstall.

If I were you, I would take this opportunity to completely wipe the computer's disks clean, since you have to reinstall everything anyways.

How do you wipe the disks, because i think if i backup any files i want (ie:my halo saves and videos) then wipe the disk because of my memory shortage my comp might be more useful.

Now I cant access the internet (im writing from a freinds computer) it says "error 0721: the remote computer did not respond. Does anybody know what this means? My isp is NTL.

There's a couple of ways to wipe your hard drives clean. One is to type format C: into the command prompt. The other, more advisable way, is to totally reinstall windows (I'll describe using XP). When you're reinstalling, you have the option of what partition to use - delete all the existing ones and then when prompted whether or not to format, make sure you format it the long way. Not only will this wipe your drive clean, but it will also let you know if there are any serious errors on your drive.

This happened to me - I had to reformat, and when I did I found that I had some serious errors on the drive and windows would not install. So I wound up creating a partition from the first 45 GB of my 60 GB Hard Drive (since the error wasn't detected until later in the formatting process). This worked fine, but I often wonder if I couldn't have opted to lose less of my storage and still have gotten away with it.

Yeah. Use command prompt's c:format is kinda dangerous, but people say if you know what youre doing and why, it will be fine.

The conventional, easier way is to find the reinstall discs that came with your comp when you first got it. My laptop with many pre-installed programs came with a total of 4-count them, FOUR discs. Budget PC's come with about 2 or 3. Just follow the instructions included with or stamped on the disc.
