i just got and installed an ati radeon 9550 256 AGP video card. mainly because my sons got halo and it was very slow and many things didn't show up with the integrated card that came with our system. now, after installing the card and trying to play the game they get this error message that you will see in this screen shot by clicking on the following link

i have run dxdiag and found no problems, have adjusted the hardware acceleration to every available level, installed older video drivers and back to the latest, have directx 9.0c, not sure what to do next, hate to think i wasted $150 on a video card for my sons to play halo, and it won't work.

Maybe you have PCI oe PCI Express slots that dont work with the AGP card you have. Or you could use Omega drivers.

Dunno where to get them but my best freind google should know, ask him.(google.com,theres not really a person that i know that has a name like that)

Omega drivers are said to be good for overclocking ATI cards.

Hey since your video card is a 256mb you should read the guide on 256mb cards and make sure you have halo update with 1.06.

well, that did the trick, thank you very much, this is the 5th board i have posted to, at least i know where to come next time. you mentioned the 256 guide, where do i find this. also the game still seems a little sluggish, much better than before the card, but it may be normal, i just don't know what normal is. are there any setting i need to change on my card for better performance.

thanks again.

i will get some pics posted for you pretty soon, only my varmints play the game, so i will get some screen shots while they are oni am a geezer that plays nascar 2003. fwiw, the card made a dramatic improvement in that game, graphics as well as gameplay, my sons said the halo game is completely different than before. overall, very happy with the card, especially for the price. thanks for all the help in here and i will get pics posted soon.
