"Please keep comments about losing the "color" tag to yourself."

Sorry Achronos, but this is too much to keep to myself. I can't understand the lack of color being used, but you gave a reason, and I accept it. But the lack of color being able to be used in sigs?! Why? I like having a nice sig that is full of vibrant colors that identify it as a sig. Why not allow colors just there? All I need is a reason.

I would like to know exactly how you can abuse a feature put there to use by the makers of the site.

I mean, invisable type, who cared? Was it really a problem? I never saw any invisable type. Look here, I'll post something invisable right now: Can anyone read it? NO! I mean, the mods have a color text that is nearly IDENTICAL to the normal color.

In my opinion, invisable typing was sort of annoying. I mean, they could get away with saying some bad words. Maybe that is what Achronos meant when he said people were "Abusing" it.

Well all I have to say is poo. On a higher note, the new graphics for the Submit, Quote, etc. buttons are pretty.

Don't quote people when they bypass the filter, either

One, don't say that word.

Two, what he probably meant was when people were making colored text the EXACT same as the background.

Well, there goes my subliminal scheming.

  • 04.05.2005 7:00 PM PDT

I'll tell you how people abused the colour tags. Once upon a time, when the New Hotness was Newer than it is now (but not quite so Hot), colour tags did not show up in Safari, for some reason. This suited me fine, since I could omnipotently read the "invisible" messages people wrote (for whatever reason).

Then, one day, the site got an update. Colours suddenly worked in Safari. This particular day, I fired up b.net, and I saw the horror that was the colour tag. Awful greens, reds and nearly-unreadable yellows and greens were everywhere. My eyes cried out at the horror of it all.

Here's the thing: Too many people have terrible terrible taste in colour. Even I know this, and hell, I'm firkin colour-blind! It's like custom avatars. People don't need a picture to offend others - coloured text is enough.

Thank goodness it's no longer available on Bungie.net. It's a better place for it.

If we make our text bold, doesn't that somewhat make it a different color.

Normal: BlackEye319.
Bold: BlackEye319.

A little bit...

Loosing the colors did suck. But I think the New buttons, and the Avatars now in the Members Lists almost make up for it. I can live w/o the colors. I didnt have any in my sig anyways.

I can understand how it would be misused by others to create false "official" posts now that mods have their own colors. However, I'll have to find another way to make links stand out. Especially in groups using the Myth Theme, where links don't stand out well at all.

What new avatars. I see no new avatars. Oh and we did get a last post date. That is sorta like a post count but better. It monitors when you post not how many you post.

I see the mods point in this but, isn't it possible to change the colors to not be so ugly/hard on the eyes. I liked colored text, it drew peeps to your sig.

Sorry Reiginko, but boo-frickedy-hoo. I could handle the plethora of colors any time. It really wasn't all that bad. If someone wants to post in bold yellow, let them. Make an option where you can color ban someone for abuse. I liked the option to have color, but to be honest, I hardly used it, except in my sig. Bring back the option of color in sigs, or at least give that option to me.

And at the very least, let your own damn pretty selves use color Bungie! :P

I can completely understand why this has been done in the forums, some people had very bright colours and some were not very easy on the eye. But we have also lost this ability in our group page, where it could offend no-one but our members. Please give us back our club page colours!

  • 04.05.2005 8:28 PM PDT

I rarely used color anyway.

I couldn't agree anymore with that last sentence. Why take them away from our groups? If we want color in our groups, let it be. We are responsible for our own groups, so why not add some color?

It would probably take more effort and code to make colors available in some areas while in others not. With too many of these going-ons, the result would be a drastically slower website.

  • 04.05.2005 8:56 PM PDT

I didn't use it much either. But it was nice to have the option. Not using it very often gives it all the more impact when you do actually use it. But my main gripe was that we lost it on the club page. We had some of our memos and directives in a stand out colour so they were easier to read
