I just bought an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256 MB video card, and when I try to run Halo it says there is a problem with Direct3D and Hardware Acceleration may not be enabled. I checked and my Hardware Acceleration is enabled, I even tried reinstalling DirectX, still nothing. I uninstalled Halo, and then reinstalled, still nothing. I tried using Halo Custom Edition, and same problem. Prince of Persia Demo worked for me, Flight Simulator worked, but Halo isn't can someone help?

If you use a windows, whatever he said.

If you're using a Mac, reinstalling the video card drivers should make a world of difference. If reinstalling everything doesn't work, do what I do when all else fails. Email Macsoft. They still support Halo PC (and have ardently refused to make Halo CE...).

Hope this helps,
Yout3

i had the same problem, see this thread

for the solution

if you download the strings.dll prior to the 1.06 patch you will get a corrupt file error message. download the patch and you should be good to go.

you can download the patch from here
