You are right. In fact, I think video games available for online play should not be available to children. (Children being under 17)0
I have thought about his much, and have come to the conclusion that online gaming leads to many things in children, the first of which is failure to take responsibilty and understand the consequences of one's actions. A 12 year old can curse a 29 year old man online and not realize this is not appropiate. But, because no punishment will be imposed, their is no remorse.
Second, children are the one not mature enough to realize it is only a game, not to be taken seriously, and not to be cheated in. A 13 year old boy cannot understand the fact that a ranking in a game is nothing to worry about to the point of making it no fun for some one else who is paying to play.
I think most of the cheating in games can be accounted for by children, and most of the cursing and trash talking also. I think, all around, it would be a better, more fun environment if it were left to people mature enough to handle talking to people hundreds of miles apart. Letting children part take is only feeding this generations already growing characteristics of no morals, responsibility, honor, self respect, and respect for those older than them.
