Subject: More Permanant Banning?

I'm beginning to notice that some people are getting banned some-countless times and they still don't learn that they have no rights here (there are a few exceptions though, I know). So shouldn't it be possible to ban someone based on their IP address? or something like that? because it's easy enough for someone to just get a new .Net passport.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

They do get IP banned, but these losers have nothing better to do than try and gain access at a forum they have been banned at. I think they can switch their IP's or mask it or something. I mean come on, all you are doing is making more work for the mods/Bungie employees and pissing off forum members. Even the biggest of losers have something better to do.

No, they get banned based on their .Net account name, so all they have to do is make a new one.

  • 07.07.2004 2:45 PM PDT

IP bans don't work. Most people have dynamic IPs. However, Tom and the guys are currently working on some new toys...

Oh, well I knew they didn't work. I thought they were being used and were not working. But they are possible. I have seen people perma banned from many other sites so I don't know. And most of those jerks would have wanted to screw with the mods more than the people here so is there something other sites do that can't be done here or...what?

Well, like goweb said they've got something in the works but like whatever else a Mod talks about they say nothing about it.

As Sketch pointed out, as well as others, there's too many possibilities that would cause the WRONG IP to be banned. It's a fairly simple operation to spoof an IP and just about anyone can do it, heck you could make your IP the same as the Pentagon's if you really wanted to.

bah

The problem is Bungie doesn't want to waste their time trying to keep up with banning people. As soon as the mnods can ban, that will be taked care of. I happen to know some of the mods can't wait to personally ban some people... Bad people...

Once the mods have been given the ability to ban users, problem users will be banned as quickly as they start to spam. Eventually there'll be no point to trying to come back and spam again, because you'll just get banned too quickly.

The people that get banned shouldn't be allowed back on the forums. It's that plain and simple.

bah

It is IMPOSSIBLE to ban a single person from anything on the web, you can only ban the stuff they use to surf, i.e. thir computer, their server, their IP block. In this case, Bungie bans their .NET passport. All they have to do is make another one. Unfortunately, the time it takes tham to make another one is too short compared to the time they have with that profile. Once the mods can ban, the time they have spamming will last all of five minutes, then they'll have to make another profile. This is no fun, so they'll leave.

Unleashing ninjas eh? I hear the new hotness is taking so long to implement because Ryu Hayabusa wants more golden scarabs than Bungie is willing to shell out. That would be so awesome if trolls got Izuna dropped! Heh heh...

yeah becuase normally when frankie tries to block me, it takes like 30 minutes to an hour, so i have more than enough time to spam. Give me another 3 minutes i got a new account
