i think it would be something they thought about, but would like to know what you all think about it.
I say the Bible.
I had about enough of these polls.
lol, u did do a thread for it, i think ur right. Although maybe there was sumthin else called Covenant so they thought that it just sounded cool
I hate everything, but it's not my fault.
They are a COVENANT of races, I already said that and told you not to start a thread about it. Now the Demon of Spam will be unleashed and we all will DIE!!! And it will be all your fault.
I saw a Big Rig that said Covenant on the side. Theeeeere heeeeeeeeeere. LOL
I think the name Covenant comes from the religious covenant between the different alien races that make up the "Covenant". They are a deeply religious group and see their war against the humans as some type of jihad.
noun: (Bible) an agreement between God and his people in which God makes certain promises and requires certain behavior from them in return noun: a signed written agreement between two or more parties (nations) to perform some action verb: agree to a covenant verb: enter into a covenant Does this help? Also the humans thought out this name.[Edited on 4/13/2004 2:20:42 PM]

Good job on looking up the actual meaning of 'Covenant'.
I'm guessing that the "agree to a covenant" was what the elites, grunts, jackles and hunters all agreed too? Right or wrong?
We are assuming that, and we are also assuming that it was mainly engineered by the Elites and Prophets.
But were the prophets around in the time of halo? Or did they arrive when the covenant invaded earth?
Covenant refers to religious things. With the prophets revealed in Halo 2 and throughout the Halo book series, it is revealed the covenant are fighting a Religious was, as they try to wipe out human kind.
Aren't the prophets the oldest of the covenant's races. Wasn't there homeworld previously inhabited by the forerunners?
So are you saying that the Prophets are the "priests", if you will, of the covenant? ( dont call me stupid because their name are prophets... :-/ ) And if they are the oldest of the races why were they not helping the Elites grunts etc. in the fight of Halo[Edited on 4/13/2004 2:37:44 PM]
I would say they are the religious leaders/generals. They were assisting through tactical battlefield advice. A general usually doesn't actually take a gun and fight.
Here i go with definitions again:Prophet:noun: an authoritative person who divines the future noun: someone who speaks by divine inspiration; someone who is an interpreter of the will of God
Then why would they in the invasion of earth?
They are on battle cruisers etc. but they aren't actually holding a plama rifle and burning human flesh.
So then are there supposed to be few prophets, meaning they are very strong, or are there many that are weak like elites ( unless your talking about legendary :-D )
There are a decent number of prophets. I would think that they are strong, but they don't use there strenght.
Then if they arn't used for much then whats the point in introducing them in halo 2? Just to have fun with them and watch them use their physcic powers on you/the marines?
It is like a general. A mission could be kill the general to stop the enemy advance. AKAKill the prophet to stop the covenant advance.
