Grand Finale, Part 1
Please Die Faster
Zanakee and I stood side by side, gazing hard at Kovalee, ready to defend ourselves. It had been about six minutes since the bomb had been armed, leaving only fourteen minutes left until the final detonation.
"You take his right, I'll take his left," whispered Zanakee in my ear, making sure Kovalee wasn't moving the whole time.
I nodded, positioning my Battle Blade so that I could fake to the right. Kovalee wasn't frightened a bit.
"Are you going to fight me, or wait out your death?" he yelled, twirling his sword a bit, as if it would scare us off. We stood in our places, until Zanakee made the first move.
"Now!" he yelled, running at Kovalee's left side, sword ready to block. I did the same on his right.
Kovalee watched Zanakee until he was about a foot away from him, then struck hard three times, all of which were blocked by Zanakee,
He then turned to me, slashing and stabbing. To my amazement, I blocked them all, and easily, too.
There was Kovalee, fighting off two of us, and not giving up, as if he would rather die than surrender.
The pattern kept going, Zanakee would put pressure on him, then I would attack defensively, instead of lunging, which Zanakee had told me not to do. Neither of us got one strike upon that silver armor.

Burns and Anderson fought off the Brutes, shooting wildly into their furry hides. most of them were armed with Carbines, giving them a medium ranged advantage over the Humans.
"Kill them all!" yelled the Captain, loading his Brute Shot with grenades. Anderson and Burns cowered behind a rock, intimidated by the giant gorilla's grenade launcher.
"Why do the big ones always come for us? Why couldn't they send a few damn Grunts down here for us?" asked Anderson.
Burns stood up, Battle Rifle pointed directly at the Captains head. It turned, then laughed hard.
"The young ones die first," and pointed the Brute Shot at Burns, ready to fire.
To the Captains horror, Burns fired first, striking him in the skull. He gave out a loud cry of pain, then dropped to the ground, motionless.
Thirty Brutes turned to Burns from behind the Captain. All of them took aim at the same time.
"Burns, get down!" yelled Anderson, tugging on the Private's leg. He wouldn't budge, as if he was fixed into the battle permanantly.
"Idiots," he said, a grin spreading across his face. He ducked down, narrowly avoiding thirty green projectiles, then stood up again.
From behind the mob, Cholahee and Sikanoy, the two SpecOps Elites, came speeding through the crowd on Ghosts, knocking almost all of the Brutes off their feet, and killing others.
Anderson lifted his head just above the rock to peak, then stood up completely, laughing hard at the Brute's misery. He through a frag grenade out into the crowd. killing four Brutes. To Anderson, nothing was more fun than watching apes get splattered and blown up. He peered across the battlefield, roughly seventeen yards away, the Phantom that held the bomb lay, untouched.
Gazing down at the watch he had brought, he noticed that they only had twelve minutes until it went off.
He faced Burns, "Let's get to work,"

Still the fight continued, and Kovalee had not let up once, only continued to attack and get back into his defensive position. I felt an urge of pride that I was still alive after fighting the feared Ultra at close quarters. If I died, at least I would be proud.
After seven useless defensive attacks, Zanakee pulled me over, taking a few steps back from Kovalee, who stayed calm, knowing that if he charged them, he would lose.
"We have to attack now, but we cannot lunge. Do not lose control. Understand?"
I nodded, stepping back into the battle.
"Never had I expected to meet such Heretics. You are a disgrace to the Covenant, both of you,"
Zanakee and I ignored him, following the plan. I charged forward, swinging once downward at Kovalee, who blocked the attack then additionally kicked me away. Zanakee did the same on his left, while I went to his right. We both struck at the same time, but Kovalee managed to evade both attacks, backing off a step, but not much.
"And to think you were an Honor Guard. You protected the Prophets. Its a shame you have to die like this, without any honor at all," he said. I attacked him again, this time swiping twice. He laughed, then used his free hand to deliver a blow to my jaw. I cried in pain for a moment, then regained myself, eager to attack again.
"Do you know what you have done to our race? The Jiralhanae are hunting us down because of you. You have damned our entire population! We will die because of you! And all because you are a coward. All because you ran from that tower,"
I drew a breath, then forgot to contain myself. Forgot to keep control. I lunged at Kovalee as hard as I could, sweeping the sword wildly in hopes of cutting him in half. He stepped back, making me trip over myself, falling forward directly toward him.
"No!" yelled Zanakee, sliding across the ground and infront of Kovalee's blade, which stuck through his chest. He let out a groan, then instantly died, leaving me unharmed.
I stared down at the Officer that lay in front of me. Then I lifted my head so that my eyes met Kovalee's.
The anger inside of me built up so high that i was ready to kill anything even my allies. The world drifted away, being replaced by a living hell. I unleashed the fury at Kovalee, not holding back one bit.
