Grand Finale, Part 1

Please Die Faster

Zanakee and I stood side by side, gazing hard at Kovalee, ready to defend ourselves. It had been about six minutes since the bomb had been armed, leaving only fourteen minutes left until the final detonation.

"You take his right, I'll take his left," whispered Zanakee in my ear, making sure Kovalee wasn't moving the whole time.

I nodded, positioning my Battle Blade so that I could fake to the right. Kovalee wasn't frightened a bit.

"Are you going to fight me, or wait out your death?" he yelled, twirling his sword a bit, as if it would scare us off. We stood in our places, until Zanakee made the first move.

"Now!" he yelled, running at Kovalee's left side, sword ready to block. I did the same on his right.

Kovalee watched Zanakee until he was about a foot away from him, then struck hard three times, all of which were blocked by Zanakee,

He then turned to me, slashing and stabbing. To my amazement, I blocked them all, and easily, too.

There was Kovalee, fighting off two of us, and not giving up, as if he would rather die than surrender.

The pattern kept going, Zanakee would put pressure on him, then I would attack defensively, instead of lunging, which Zanakee had told me not to do. Neither of us got one strike upon that silver armor.
************************************************************* ****************************************
Burns and Anderson fought off the Brutes, shooting wildly into their furry hides. most of them were armed with Carbines, giving them a medium ranged advantage over the Humans.

"Kill them all!" yelled the Captain, loading his Brute Shot with grenades. Anderson and Burns cowered behind a rock, intimidated by the giant gorilla's grenade launcher.

"Why do the big ones always come for us? Why couldn't they send a few damn Grunts down here for us?" asked Anderson.

Burns stood up, Battle Rifle pointed directly at the Captains head. It turned, then laughed hard.

"The young ones die first," and pointed the Brute Shot at Burns, ready to fire.

To the Captains horror, Burns fired first, striking him in the skull. He gave out a loud cry of pain, then dropped to the ground, motionless.

Thirty Brutes turned to Burns from behind the Captain. All of them took aim at the same time.

"Burns, get down!" yelled Anderson, tugging on the Private's leg. He wouldn't budge, as if he was fixed into the battle permanantly.

"Idiots," he said, a grin spreading across his face. He ducked down, narrowly avoiding thirty green projectiles, then stood up again.

From behind the mob, Cholahee and Sikanoy, the two SpecOps Elites, came speeding through the crowd on Ghosts, knocking almost all of the Brutes off their feet, and killing others.

Anderson lifted his head just above the rock to peak, then stood up completely, laughing hard at the Brute's misery. He through a frag grenade out into the crowd. killing four Brutes. To Anderson, nothing was more fun than watching apes get splattered and blown up. He peered across the battlefield, roughly seventeen yards away, the Phantom that held the bomb lay, untouched.

Gazing down at the watch he had brought, he noticed that they only had twelve minutes until it went off.

He faced Burns, "Let's get to work,"
************************************************************* ****************************************

Still the fight continued, and Kovalee had not let up once, only continued to attack and get back into his defensive position. I felt an urge of pride that I was still alive after fighting the feared Ultra at close quarters. If I died, at least I would be proud.

After seven useless defensive attacks, Zanakee pulled me over, taking a few steps back from Kovalee, who stayed calm, knowing that if he charged them, he would lose.

"We have to attack now, but we cannot lunge. Do not lose control. Understand?"

I nodded, stepping back into the battle.

"Never had I expected to meet such Heretics. You are a disgrace to the Covenant, both of you,"

Zanakee and I ignored him, following the plan. I charged forward, swinging once downward at Kovalee, who blocked the attack then additionally kicked me away. Zanakee did the same on his left, while I went to his right. We both struck at the same time, but Kovalee managed to evade both attacks, backing off a step, but not much.

"And to think you were an Honor Guard. You protected the Prophets. Its a shame you have to die like this, without any honor at all," he said. I attacked him again, this time swiping twice. He laughed, then used his free hand to deliver a blow to my jaw. I cried in pain for a moment, then regained myself, eager to attack again.

"Do you know what you have done to our race? The Jiralhanae are hunting us down because of you. You have damned our entire population! We will die because of you! And all because you are a coward. All because you ran from that tower,"

I drew a breath, then forgot to contain myself. Forgot to keep control. I lunged at Kovalee as hard as I could, sweeping the sword wildly in hopes of cutting him in half. He stepped back, making me trip over myself, falling forward directly toward him.

"No!" yelled Zanakee, sliding across the ground and infront of Kovalee's blade, which stuck through his chest. He let out a groan, then instantly died, leaving me unharmed.

I stared down at the Officer that lay in front of me. Then I lifted my head so that my eyes met Kovalee's.

The anger inside of me built up so high that i was ready to kill anything even my allies. The world drifted away, being replaced by a living hell. I unleashed the fury at Kovalee, not holding back one bit.

if you could be brutes and marines, a machinima would be cool. Youd have to use avalanche or snowbound tho.

"Do not mistake your rank and number for superiority. The oldest child may learn from the youngest."

Awesome job so far! Keep up the great work! I'm waiting to see how it ends.

I'd really suggest you go back and edit the story, add a bit more story detail here and there, check spelling/grammar, and then see what you can do to present your story to a wider Halo audience. It is a great read and should attract many fans! Again, great effort!

Grand Finale, Part 2

Fair Fight... Sorta

Without taking a breath, I struck at Kovalee four times, sweeping back and forth as fast as I could. He simply laughed at my mediocre effort.

"You think that coming in with a different color sword and some bright armor is going to help you? We will all die in the end anyway!" he laughed.

I looked down at Zanakee's body again, as if it bring him back,

give me a chance.

Nothing. Just Kovalee waiting for me to strike. I looked back up at my enemy, who wasn't just wating. In his hand, Zanakee's sword. Kovalee had dual swords, while I only had the Battle Blade.

He began to approach me slowly, swords pointed at my head. What to do was unclear to me. Fight a crazy Ultra with not one, but two Energy Swords? No. I did what I do best. I made a sprint for it, running around Kovalee, narrowly avoiding his left blade. I took long, quick strides away, just to regroup with myself, think of a plan, rather than leaving the battle entirely.

Although that would have been very useful now. A loud buzzing noise could be heard throughout the mountain, echoing. From the south, a great explosion of blue appeared, scattering Phantom parts, throwing rocks and dust into the air, which quickly made its way in our direction. Before we could take cover, Kovalee and I were blinded by dust, than hit by the falling rocks. It was like a storm that none could escape.
************************************************************* ****************************************

"This is a joke right? This isn't really happening while we're trying to disarm the bomb, right?" said Anderson, looking like he wanted to sit in a corner and cry.

Burns shrugged. The two of them were safe, as they were hiding in a small cavern that just fit the two of them, protecting them from the whirling dust and rocks outside.

Cholahee and Sikanoy, the SpecOps Elites, were out in the storm, still in their Ghosts, looking for a place to get away from the madness. They found nothing but a debree storm.

"We have to help Solonee!" yelled Sikanoy, whirling his head in all directions, searching for the gold Sangheili.

Their Ghosts were nearly destroyed, being pelted hard by stones. Just when things seemed like it couldn't get any worse, another detonation went off, swriling the dust away, than bringing it all back again. This time there were bigger rocks rolling down the mountain, Phantom parts blowing across the air. There was no way to escape.

Cholahee tilted his head. In the distance, two figures could just be seen, laying flat on the ground, motionless.

"I found them! Quickly, he is injured!"

The two Ghosts sped off toward the figures, determined to save their ally.

It seemed so clever, picking Sol up in the Ghosts and speeding away. Until, when they were only a few feet away from Sol, Kovalee shot up, swords in hand. He was bleeding from being pelted by rocks, but it didn't stop him. He bolted at Cholahee, swinging the swords, knocking him out of the Ghost. Cholahee screamed in pain, sprawling on the ground, a deep gash just below his chest.

Despite his own injury, Kovalee laughed, turning his head so he could look at Sol's pathetic body, still unmoving on the ground.

Kovalee took small steps toward Sol, considering his legs were giving out beneath him already. Zanakee's and his own swords still by his side.

It was time to end this battle for good.
************************************************************* ****************************************

The wind nearly carried my body away. I lay on the ground, resting. Waiting for everything to be over. Waiting to carry on into the afterlife.

All the strength in my body was gone. All the mental push that I had established was gone.

All of my hope was gone.

The world seemed to dissapear before my eyes. I saw it all again.

I saw myself on Sanghelios, in peace. There was no bloody battle, just my childhood. Just serenity. Nothing was abnormal, just our race living its life gracefully. And then I saw the Covenant. Saw them arrive on our planet, taking us in one by one, dressing us up in battle armor, giving us weapons, ultimatum.

There was my father, telling me everything was okay, telling me he would fix everything. I believed him, too, thinking he would establish an agreement with the San Shyuum to let our race's young stay out of the war. Instead, I saw him rebel against the armada, getting shot down by a fellow Elite. He was hung, and brought around the city, for everyone to see his humiliation. I visioned myself crying for months, not getting over the fact that everything in my life was destroyed.

The scene changed again, this time it was of myself, filling in for my fathers duty as an Honor Guard, standing by the Prophet of Regret for so long, without seeing any action, just there. No one said a word to me. I was alone, unnoticed and unwanted.

It changed again, this time revealing that same scene in the tower. I saw myself running, saw that Unggoy calling me a coward, saw a massacred Regret look back at me as I left him to die. It was all too familiar.

Finally, it was Anderson, helping me into the Warthog, standing up for me when no one else would. Saving my life from Kovalee, asking me that question again;

' Are you a Heretic, or a Hero?'

Reality flashed before my eyes again, the strength miraculously returned, the scent of the battle back in me. I grasped the handle of my sword, firing the red plasma again. Everything seemed different now, so much more intense, as if the memories had brought me back to life, showing me my destiny, giving me my goal.

I would not die a coward.
