gearbox's forums have a guide for making custom content. Basically, HEK is almost the same stuff as what the developers used for Halo (well actually, it may be the exact same). Basically, the ahrdest part to master is 3ds max (you can get a free trial) or gmax. After that, it's a slice of pie...err a crumb of cookie...piece of cake, there we go.
