Blackeye would be great. He handles his group very well and seems up to the task. And VII Toast, although I don't see him much, he has been a postive influence in the community.

Thanks.

Toast is very helpful here. And Guardian Hunter has one of the largest groups on Bungie. Mine is growing almost at the same rate as his, but his is still better.

Pink Menace would do good. He helps out and is a good person overall. Banshee Barron would also do good.

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

Any of the following (IMHO) would be good candidates for this Column Council, or whatever you wanna call it.

1. Banshee Barron
2. Rip Saw
3. Shai Halud
4. GameJunkieJim
5. Eagle 117
6. Jay132
7. Jeff Mcrae
8. Halo53

I know all of those people except Jeff Mcrae. They would do good.

Why is everyone promoting the member counts all of a sudden? Sure, good chapters often have a lot of members, but don't go using your members number to impress people. Numbers mean nothing.

Yeah, you are right. I was just stating, but I probably made it sound wrong. Don't want to impress anyone. Hmmm...I would rather be in a group with active people rather than a group with a lot of people, but none that are active. That was a good word-in.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

It's good that Rip Saw wants to get this started but we still haven't exactly hammered out what the council will do. There has been talk of creating a new 7th column home page and updating the chapter spotlight, but this can not just be done. The members would have to be given these special privileges by some sort of Bungie Employee.

Also, Shai and Banshee have been temporarily banned from the forums for talking about politics. I was told for like 2 months.

  • 04.29.2005 9:59 PM PDT

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Ouch, that hurts. I would suggest...I don't know. Let Bungie decide, although I suppose these lists help them out a little. Also, I'm hurt nobody has mentioned me ;)

Rip Saw was the only one to mention me, but I have expressed my desire to help many times in both the original thread and this thread. I always have and always will be willing to lend a helping hand.

I think you would do a good job Halo53, so I nominate you (if that means anything). I also volunteer to help out in the same spirit as Halo's post (since I am tired and can't think of something good to write at the moment. Maybe I'll replace this with something better in the morning.).

Yeah, Halo, sorry. I was gonna mention you, but I forgot. As for what you said, ditto. Anything I can do to help.

So the question is this: What do you guys see the Council doing, and do you think that it's a good idea?

Besides the obvious responsibility of playing WoW with the in crowd... There, I said it;-)... the council could provide an effective medium of communication for the community. Instead of the current medium, which usually consist of active community member John Doe having his legitimate concerns get lost in the sea of Sketch’s PM fan mail or in the jungle of threads seen on b.net everyday, John Doe could bring his community questions, ideas, and concerns before the council. On top of offering a more effective medium of communication for the community, this council could highlight community members' works (fan fiction, news worthy articles, theories, etc.), bring the limelight to interesting groups, help in setting up community events, and be allowed to curse profusely at b.net morons. Wait... cursing is still the hip means of communication around here, right?

(Walks to nearest street corner in order to fund his farming addiction...)

That is a pretty good discription of what the council should do.
Also: 7 people is not enough. That would put too much work in too few hands.
15 or 17 seems alot better to me.

here are some things that the council should do:
1: Promote the 7th column
2: Chapter Spotlight: every few weeks a good chapter gets to be in the spotlight
3: Event promotion: Whenever some sets a tourny or a LAN fest, the council can help promote it.
4: highlight community members' works (fan fiction, news worthy articles, theories, etc.)
5: Answer the obvious and not so obvious questions about Bungie and the column and etc.
6: Help new chapters getting started (ACS/Cfounders involvement?)
7: is darker
8: Bring community worthy news every week.
9: Bring back the community spirit

I hope that that list sums things up, if you know something else, or disagree with something, please say so.

Dont mess with me

COMMON LISTEN... Gaudian Hunter has the most active group in bungie... he handles it the best by even doing elections for higher ranks.

Like Rip Saw said, numbers mean nothing. We are not going to decide who should be in the Council by how many people they have in their group.

Well, we have several nominations, the council's job cut out for them, so what's next?

Oh yes, what I think everyone is trying to say, is that even if you have a group that has a thousand members, it doesn't matter. Well, from a certain perspective, it does. Say I am the leader of a large, active, growing group. Well, I would have to keep everything in check, well at least most of it. I would have a great deal of responsibility, and i would have to make wise decisions all the time. Experience with this is definitly handy, and has a major effect on what they would do in a higher position on Bungie.net.

Okay, so we can conclude that having a large group doesn't mean anything whatsoever. I think we just need active and helpful members.

For example, I am on this site 6 - 8 hours a day, but there are plenty of other people like that. It really isn't a forum addiction for me, I just like these forums.

There are plenty of people suitable for this. I think that the people of Bungie should choose and not us. Then, that could make it official.

  • 04.30.2005 8:12 AM PDT

Well i know for a Fact that Blackeye would do REALLY GOOD!!! He runs a great group and is very nice He can be trusted with about anything and well Ya i know he would do go so my vote would go for him. But He is really good here on Bungie In all the groups that im in with him he hasnt been backlisted once that i can remember.

Well, so what are we going to do now? Just sit here and wait for the bungie staff to reply to us? It seems like we've been doing this for a long time and nothing has happened. Is it really getting anywhere? I say we go ahead and get it started, then when bungie gets around to it they can make it official. Nothing really is being accomplished other than nominations. We have got to set this stuff in stone instead of talking about for days on end. I mean this bickering is pointless. Saying something must be done will never accomplish as much as saying I must do something.

Spelling C'mon correctly helps your case....Spelling Guardian Hunter right also helps too. Having a large active group doesn't necessarily mean that the person would be a good council member. Also, I seriously doubt that Mjolnir Battle Tactics is the most active group on the Column.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

The Council should run the weekly or monthly group spot light

Ok. One, and only one person should write to Achronos or another Bungie person and explain to them this matter. They know that the Council is being discussed, but they aren't taking action. Who should write the letter/PM? Let it be someone that knows what the Council should be and someone that can spell properly...
