I'm not that active, but never dead.

Ok. Time for some info.

We need to get things moving. The deadline will be set to Saterday for a number of reasons.

* The people on the Council need to be active members.
* If they can't reply to a message, then they obvisealy aren't active enough to be on the Council.
* We can always add people later if we have good reason.

So. Deadline Saterday.

To review what the Council is about:

For those of you that don't know, this would be a group of trusted volunteer members that takes on the job that Bungie staff used to do for the Community section, namely finding chapters for the spotlight and handling news from the chapters.

So the people on the Council are going to do the job that Bungie did before the New Hotness. Now, if people weren't around before the new hotness, then how are they to know what to do?
Therefore, the Majority of the Council must have been on Bungie.net before the New Hotness.
I know it's a little cruel, but it's just the cold hard tru7h.
You can't do the 7CWiR if you don't that it existed.

At least 2/3 of the Council must be pre-hotness.

I think that i would mostly agree with this. However, we definatly need some newer people (i.e. post hotness).

That's a bit outrageous, don't you think? The older members can be just as bad (if not worse) than newer ones. The newer members have their advantages, as well as disadvantages. It's the same thing with older members. It would be unfair to judge anyone's skill and ability to act on the Council with a date. Sure, the older members are fine, but you'll have to remember, the last two moderators weren't 3 years old.. they were barely a year. This proves that newer members have just as much, if not more than older members.

I decline that idea, it's rubbish to be prejudice by a simple date.

Yeah, i do think it is a bit harsh. I suggest we do one of the following:

* 50% Pre-Hotness, 50% Post

* Have no date bias.

I vote for the second option.

The only thing is that at least one or two members would need to know how the first council worked.

There never was a council before.

And it doesn't matter when someone joined, if they can do the job, they can do the job. However: Pre-hotness members have the "main advantage"( if i can call it that way), of knowing how the old 7th column was.

Next, a very, very good is list is being made, and right now it's just a matter of the wellknown "finishing touch".

Ok then. I agree with Toast, just because someone was here before the new hottnes dosen't make them any more 'better' or superior than any other member.

It sounds very elitist to try and limit based on year, although I don't really see too many 2005 members working... they generally don't know how things are around the place... sorry guys...

And btw OMGWTFBBQ, COPYCAT!

* Well, i think we decided yesterday that it would be better to have people from both.
[Please keep in mind that not everyone post hotness joined in 2005]

* The agreement list has been up-dated. Again i say, please tell me if there are others i need to add.

Same goes for you, bucko.

I agree that membership should not be restricted to pre-11/9 or pre-2005 members, for the same reasons stated above.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Id rather have more of u older guys, Just cuz u know whats up. And some new guys just for fresh ideas and fairness

Right. That is the idea. Although we can't have them too fresh. At least two months of membership i'd say.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

As I said before, people should be chosen for how well of a job everyone thinks they would do, not for their join date or for how big of a chapter they have or any thing else like that.

That is completely unfair post 2005 members can bring good incite. I joined in 2004 but I changed my login after a while because I shut down my old account so now I am post 2005 and I think it is unfair that the few people that think there superior because they have been here longer would do that. I am not saying it is BobBQ or anyone else on this thread but I have meet quite a few pre-2005 members that think they are better than everyone because they have been here longer. In fact I have seen alot of join-date discrimination all throughout the forum.

I'm not that active, but never dead.

I'm not trying to be Elitist or anything, but I just don't really trust people that haven't been here for more than a year. What if the new person posted a bunch of Blam on the 7th Column news page? Sure' we would ban him.

But what's a ban to someone who just signed up? If you've been around for a year, then you have something to lose. Maybe 2/3 of people before the new hotness is too much.

If there was going to be someone on the Council that has not been here for more than a year, it should be a max of 2-3 people, and a through background check (Have been blacklisted, why, have they changed, etc.)

To be honest, I don't think there are more than 2 or 3 people that have joined recently that deserve to be members. Of course it is my opinion, and everyone's opinion of how recent is recent varies.

Call me slow but if I knew about this, I would of put my name down, but I'm 24 hours late, so I'll leave.

*sob*

Anyhoo, the idea of council is good, so good luck with it.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Everyone on my list except Simen and Tanikanze have accepted their nominations.

And I feel that the Council should be made up of the older members. However, I admit that I am prejudiced against the newer members.

Alot of older members are prejudice to the newer member that is why if a council is comprised of a majority of older members then that is the kind of chapters they are going to be in and consider for the spotlight because they can't appreciate the new stuff. That is why it should be 50% pre-November 9th, 50% after. That way it would balance out.
