It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Ok. Basicly, nothing has been officially announced yet. This thread has most of the stuff we've come up with and finalised between ourselves are in this thread. At the moment we're all just waiting for anything to be announced.

Holy shizéfrickle, this has been going on for two months and I ignored/missed the PM until now. I hope there's some way I'm still in this.

I belive this was the mods idea in the first place, so I don't see why they haven't brought it together.

Now that the mad, mad rush has died down somewhat, and people have got to grips with the new Column, it seems the right time to discuss the 7th Column Council.

For those of you that don't know, this would be a group of trusted volunteer members that takes on the job that Bungie staff used to do for the Community section, namely finding chapters for the spotlight and handling news from the chapters.

So the question is this: What do you guys see the Council doing, and do you think that it's a good idea?

If even the mods/staff could take a second or two to update us once every other day, don't you think that would improve things alot?

Good good, I'd like to see it implemented even if I'm not a part of it. The number of members has to have something to do with the number 7. Be it seven or 49 etc...

I would like to see more chapters survive. Right now it is very hard to start and keep a group.

I find posting in the Claddifieds attracts some real idiots. Signature links is the way to get the right kind of members in your group as your going to get more members from the forusm that you post in more....

Not totally. Bungie isn't all about Halo 2. They do have another 11 title and a "Secret Project(Have a guess what). It is the office's desicion wether they get rid of modders or not. Bungie don't have to get rid of them, but because they do thibgs for their fans, they do everything they can. Keep in mind, the Halo 2 Online team can only be so big.

So there are still more employees who are not doing anything.

If this council is to get anywhere, it is the Web Team that have to do something. At the moment, I belive they are working on site performance. The council, as it stands, is not the top priority. When it gets there, the council shall be very opperational, even if some of us don't make the final list.

Some of us? It's my belief that most of us won't make it, but that doesn't bother me as long as it actually gets formed...

I agree. It has just been enjoyable in discussing this thing. It has shown that a great amount of people care about the community and want to do something for it. The community is what makes this site what it is. The enthusiasm and intrerest in the community which has been clearly shown here, brings a tear to my eye. Not everyone can be on the actual council, but they can have input in making it and i'm sure Bungie are trying to find more ways in which people can contribute to the community.

Let us now hope all this planning and discussion pays off, and let us hope the council works and lasts for years to come.

Group survival, to be blunt, in my honest honest opinion, is all down to the founder. Some fondours just dont cut it. Having said that, its fun to try and Im happy to help people trying. =)
