Hey guys, i'm a long time fan of the halo series, well I decided to buy halo CE for the pc since I have a great computer and the graphics are better than they are for the xbox, so I installed and had fun and whatnot . . . .

then I got a widescreen monitor and when i try to play Halo CE I can't see the menu!! I think the resolution is messed up but i don't see a config thing to adjust the resolution. i've tried re-installing as well but no luck the screen is still black . . . .

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Halo PC is going to default to the last resolution you set in the main options menu. So when you switched monitors, it continues to try and use that resolution. Re-installing I think keeps all those settings, so that isn't going to help.

The easiest way to deal with this is to plug your old monitor back in, change the resolution to something you know your widescreen monitor uses, then exit the game, change monitors, and restart.

You can also force safe mode and I think specific resolutions and refresh rates by editing the target path. Take a look here:

Right click halo shortcut, go to end of command line, after " hit space then -vidmode w,h,r where w is width, h is height, r is refresh rate (r is optional, leave blank for default)
