I have already written about the stats being reset but it looks like I need to do it again.
Resetting the stats is horrible. The people saying "Hey its a fresh start" and "You'll get it back" and "My win record is messed up because of cheaters" are heartless, arrogant bastards. Like I said in my other message, I only care about my own hard earned, time consuming, cheated on freaking level. Ignore the people who say reset the stats. No one cares about your damn win record, and everyone should forget about the leaderboards. Leave them where they are, I really don't care. The "pro-reseters" just have a big ego.
I have more reason to hate cheaters than anyone, which is why I am satisfied enough with just being rid of them. I want to just forget about it and continue where I left off. Resetting the levels will give the cheaters the last laugh.
Resetting the levels doesn't benefit anyone anyways. You morons saying "Let's find out where I'd really be" are making a completely illogical statement. Here's why. First, the games you won didn't involve cheaters now did they? Second, you're REAL complaint is, "I'm not as high as I should be AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME!" Basically, all you've really lost is TIME. So, thinking logically for a second, you would realize that resetting would only ADD to the amount of time. Time I do not want to spend getting back what I already deserve. I'm willing to spend time bringing 2v2 up to my other levels (17) but that's because I have yet to earn my level in that playlist.
If you want to see you're real level, then you will continue on you're merry little way. If you reset the ranks, you'll be fighting people of all skill levels at level freaking 1! In a sense, you're new levels will be even more inaccurate and false than you're previous ones. Everyone will just start saying, "My win record is not as good because I had to fight good people at level 3!" You people will never be pleased. But you can do right by your true fans, Bungie, and keep the levels where they are. I will lose all love for the good people at Bungie if you reset the stats.
Personally, I like the idea of "hidden" levels, especially if the real goal is to match players of similar skill. Maybe you could make it so that you can only see your own level. (Fancy and everything.) That's the only level you should care about anyway.
I know this was a while back but I want everyone to read this and relize the genuis this guy is putting out, even though what he is saying is so simple. There is no real pointto resetting stats. I look at them personally as a way for me to get the best game I can possible. For me, it dosent mean prestige or honor, for me it is just a way to get the best game. Now, for those who say, "Lets find out where I would actually be", well if you keep the stats where they are you will be at where ever you feel you are meant to be all the more quicker.
The thing is, the cheaters are going to pay for cheating. Whenever they play a game, they are going to be far above where they are supposed to be and not really do that well. It will only frustrate them and therefor make the rest of us happy.
Aside from that, Bungie you guys rock. I would still play your game even if you reset the stats. (I'm not exactly a high lvl muself because I play a lot of costom games). Anyway bungie keep it up love you guys.
I think some of it is about prestige and honor. Bungie, heres what you need to do. Let me help you out a bit.
Levels really isn't where it's at. It's all about the medals.
Allow individual members to see their number, that's fine!
But if you were to rank the stats according to the number of medals? That would be the way to go. The medals are what really counts. I mean, some WW2 or Vietnam vet isn't going to be like, Oh yah on my 3rd tour I made it to level 25...no he's gonna say, Hey, I won this purple heart for bravery, and a killtacular for blowing charlie out of his bunker.
Of course, you'd have to...not "restructure", but add to the types of medals available. Shooting someone in the back, would be a medal. Or how about grenade kills? That would be nice...you could see whos the best with the grenades!
I am personally QUITE awesome with the grenades. What? You wanna TRY ME?! COME ON I'LL KILL YA! :)
Let's see. Perhaps a medal for a superjump? Or a Double-plasma-stick?
What about if you're crouch-walking and sneak up on someone and kill them. If you sucessfully sneak up on them you get a "stealth" medal, which naturally would be a guys head in a detectives hat and trenchcoat collar. DUH!
Killing a vehicle while you're on foot...that is a skill that takes alot of time to really do well, and is deserving of a medal. I'd call it "UPENDED!" but you may call it differently. It's your perogative.
Shooting someone in the crotch area. Especially sniping them in the crotch. We could call it a "Nut-tacular" which would be great for the older croud, but at the same time the little kids would be thinking about squirrels, so it works out on both levels.
Parents could set Halo 2 to sign off at a certain time of day. So, if you're playing against someone late at night, and they suddenly collapse to the ground, everyone could get the kill, and it would be called a "Mommas boy" medal. Great fun for everyone.
If your team-mate assists you, or vice-versa, in performing a special maneuver, ie. using the sword to get to the top of the wheel on Zanzibar, there could be a special medal for that. A "Teammate assist" and it could be two masterchiefs kissing. Awww.
Someone told me that if you kill someone, then continue to crouch over them, the announcer says "Get a room!" - Thats funny.
But yeah....It should all be about medals.
Man, I'm B-blam!- with ideas, but its 3:30 AM here now, and my brain is fuzz. Bye
