I know theres about a billion of these posts on here, but I'm getting an ATI Radeon 9250 256mb card and I wondered if it'd be any good. I mean, against a GeForce FX or somethin.

If you don't want to upgrade it in 6 or fewer months, then no. It's pretty much a very doomed card for the next generation of games. Do you have an AGP slot or a PCI slot. Get the FX5500 or FX5700 if you have PCI. However, if you have AGP, at least a 9600XT, probably 9800 Pro would be good.

You can't get the 5700 for PCI. I looked and couldn't find one.

Well the LE stands for Light Edition so its not actually a 5700. Its actually a really crappy 5700 so I guess you can get one but its not as good as an actuall 5700 which I hear is a pretty good card.

But it is a 5700...lol

Yeah, dude if you only have PCI, it's not only time for a new graphics card, it's high time for a new pc.

Now that I've found a new video card, everyone is telling me that it sucks. Will this cycle never end??? I have 1 AGP slot....will this card play at least games like Halo and Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow???

whats ur processor speed? Also, don't get 6800. get the 660 (normal or the 6600 gt.) Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is very graphic like, and my pc with a nvidia 6600 gt can handle it well. . Get the 6600's series, not the 6800.

Its good that you have an AGP slot cause then you can upgrade later. Just because you got a new card doesn't mean it is a high end card. It will run Halo but you won't be able to put the eye candy in and have good fps.

A good card to get would be a 9800 Pro. It will last you longer than a year or two, unlike anything below it which you'll have to upgrade soon anyway.

Yep, but that's this generation. If he does want to spend the extra money to get one, yes he can. In fact that will last him another 1-2 years on top of the 1-2 from the 9800 Pro. Just depends on how much he wants to spend. On this market, though, the 6600GT is probably the best price/performance. It is pretty darn cheap right now.
