The fuelrod gun should look like this: http://www.halo-center.com/staticpages/img/fuel-rod-gun.jpg

But on my computer at least, the green bars on the top are missing, and the bars in first person never light up. Any explanaitons?

ummm ya this can be a bity confusing for new people to Halo. Becuase in Halo for Xbox they never had the fuel rod gun for multiplayer, Gearbox decided to change it for the Halo PC multiplayer, the pic. of the fuel rod gun u found is a pic. of the one in the Campaign (i.e Single-player) that u cannot use, the one in PC multiplayer has the "plasma cartridges" from the top removed and is also changed in a couple other ways, as u have noticed.

Yeah, weird. Except, I've seen screenshots of first person where someone was holding the fuelrod gun and there were wires and... well it's somewhere on this page. Can you explain that? I couldn't. Oh, and i'm not new to haloPC. Im trying legendary. The link's here: http://www.macsoftgames.com/products/halo/screens/screen4.htm

the 'wires' are probably on his sholder, and therefore out of his range of vision. then again i have no clue what you are talking about. now, if you could give us your system specs, and maybe a screenshot, you could help your with your fuel rod problem...

Okay, not to be mean or blunt, have you ever played a first person shooter?

All fps's have the zoomed in effect with the gun. When you use a gun in real life, you don't hold the whole thing in front of you so you can see it. Especially with something that rests on your shoulder, you see the front half.

There is nothing wrong with your pc. It's simply a realistic view of the gun.

I know what you mean, but did you even look at the screenshot i gave you on my second post? There wer lights on the side. Forget about the wires, but what i mean is that I've never seen the first person fuel rod gun light up, but this screenshot, here: http://www.macsoftgames.com/products/halo/screens/screen4.htm , shows a lit up fuel rod gun. Do you see what i mean now? And, though im not new to FPS's, im new to forums. How do i post a screenshot? Or a hyperlink?

Specs: iMac G5 1.8 gigahurtz,
1 gigabyte of ram
GeForce FX 5200

And performance with everything all the way up isn't a problem, even on a mac.

isn't that green bar the heat gauge, or is it the battery gauge, I forget.

^^^

You have to fire a lot in order for the bar to light up. It's the FRG's heat guage.

Actually, i think it might be the opposite, because i have a mac. That page was on a mac website, but those bars never light up even when i fire it. I have everything set up high, with detail objects and stuff, too. So i dont know what it could be.

hmmm that's weird then. Try taking a screenshot of what the fuel rod gun looks like on ur comp. and post the pic. on a site like fileshack (www.fileshack.com) however you'll have to decrease the size of the screenshot before u load it, as a screenshot size pic. is too alrge for their site. Then we can tell u if that's what a fuel rod gun should li,e like. Also i thought that green bar was the percentage of battery left? hmm.

I think you mean www.photobucket.com , but either way, is there any website where i can upload a picture without signing up for anything? I'm pretty young, 11, and I'm not sure if my dad would want a miscellaneous company to know our zipcode.

Well Cautious, I have a macintosh, and I've NEVER seen the fuel rod light up and such. This could also be because my mac isn't the newest thing in the world, has only the minimum specs, and runs halo at the lowest graphics settings (but the highest sound works, oddly enough).
My advice is that you don't believe everything you see in previews or pics. But There could be a problem that I'm not aware of (due to my settings). Tell me what your graphics settings are, and i'll see what i can do.

Waiting for an answer,

I think it's probably just the Mac version. There are subtle differences besides that, in certain textures, lighting effects. Just an aesthetical difference, that's all. Really, I wouldn't worry.

O, yout3, the imac runs everything all the way up, shaders, specular, detail objects, model reflections, texture quality high, particles high, decals, ect... you get the picture. Oh, and maj worked. Thanks. I got the adress right here: Fuel Rod Gun

Sry about the field of view, i messed with it a little.

ohhh i see what u mean...well unless u mind enough to get a whole new graphics card i wouldn't bother. The thing with halo is that it seems that if ur graphics card just meets the minimum requirements then certain things will be missing in lieu of the fact thaat ur graphics card is just focusing on all the neccesary animations, thus missing out on some small things, like the detail on the fuel rod gun... either that or ur settings are lower than highest, and the fuel rod gun detail is missing on either "Medium" or "Low" detail levels. So does that happen for just the fuel rod gun, or other guns like the plasma pistol and plasma rifle also are also missing their heat gauges.

btw, sry for the website "fileshack" i always get mixed up, the site i use is www.imageshack.com, and u can upload pics there as well without having to sign up for anything, but make sure the image file is less than 1024kb.

I'd agree with jman here, It's probably just your graphics card. And you lucky, lucky b@$^@#!, your video card runs decent graphics...
Anyway, as we all know, iMac's aren't updatable, so eugh... I'm stuck with my crappy nVidia Geforce 2 MX (the card from hell... you could probably get it at a garage sale for $10.00. Seriously)

I really wish those people at MacSoft would do their job right, and get all those little things in there, not to mention port Halo CE to mac...

Anyway, I'm done grousing...

Well, jman, it seems the fuelrod gun is the only one with the problem. I get the heat gauges on the plasma pistol and rifle, and all other ones. But like i've said, there's NOTHING that i don't have on high. Everything is on, and if it's on, it's high. But thanks for your help.

A couple things that i have realized: Halo Mac websites ALWAYS use PC screens if they can get 'em. If you want to see the details on objects like the fuel rod gun or MC's visor, you have to have at least a PC, maybe a better video card. I feel like i got ripped off because of this fact. I, too am among the repressed croud that is the Mac gaming public. I have also noticed a little greyed out checkbox on the startup message for the Mac version, It reads "Enable Detailed Objects". I suspect that the possibility of being able to use this option exists, and that you need a better video card. Check back with me for details!
