That's a pretty good point. There ARE things out there that are faster than light, believe it or not. A few years ago a group of scientists were testing out a new kind of laser (I think that's what it was) and it was so fast that it exited the test chamber before it even finished entering...the scientists calculated and estimated the speed to be faster than light.

Sorry I didn't state this earlier, I pretty much forgot about it until that last post.

?
When did this happen?
For one thing, a laser is light.
For another, you would think this would've been HUGE news - I mean, this is disproving Einsteins Theory of Relativity...

Anyways, on topic:
Halo is most likely some kind of widespread, biological weapon - how else could it annihilate all life without destroying planets as well?
We know it doesn't reduce planets to so much slag, it doesn't annihilate a planets atmosphere so it's not strictly energy in the conventional sense.
It would somehow have to distinguish between flora and fauna - it would somehow have to destroy all life on the planets within its radius while not destroying its atmosphere or its ecosystem somehow. Afterall, there are plenty of planets that still harbor life within UNSC space...
