The Sound Blaster Audigy LS is a pretty damn nice card for the money. $55, anywhere (in the US, that is.) I "hopefully" will be getting one for free today, and thats an $70cdn value!!

Two things....

is this a real 9800 pro? cause i all the posts and i dont want to get tricked when buying this 9800 pro for around 250$. How do i know its a real 9800pro or and 9800se with the pro name??

Here is the link: http://www.pcdirectsource.com/Item.cfm?ID=1215

i have another question....

i know nothing about sound cards i ll get a mobo with no integrated sound so i want a recomendation in sound cards.... is this sound blaster audigy 2 Zs platinum a good choice or it is a waste of money and i can get another good card for much less http://www.pcdirectsource.com/Item.cfm?ID=1561

The GFX card is real so you can buy. I would get though at least a x800pro or a GeForce 6800 just because the next generation games are gonna require them. But thats just me, the 9800 should do you justice. Congrats on the new card

Ghost, technically, you dont know. Some PC stores have screwed up before by sending the wrong package to customers when they thought they were getting 9800pros, but they instead got the 128bit versions. The best thing to do is to make sure on the box it states somewhere that it is in fact the 256bit version. www.rage3d.com/forums is the place to go for all ATI related questions. If you buy the card and can get the part number/product number off of it, post it there and somebody will be able to tell you. As well, I still highly recommend the Audigy LS for the average gamer. The Audigy 2 is awefully pricey, and if your not a sound freak, is not worth it imo. Hope this helps!! ;)

IT says right in the ad its a 256bit card. its fine. If you discover when you get it that they are flat out lying, get a refund, sue them, give bad ratings, everything you can to get your way, but i highly doubt thety would do that.

Just read the guide he wrote and look up the prices of the cards you like. If you can afford it, get a 9800pro. If you cant, a Geforce 4 ti-4600 or something like that would be good

Cheapest bang for the buck : ti-4200
Less cheapest bang for the buck : r9800pro

In Performance all the brands are almost equal.

For the quality i would not buy any of those brands : Club3d , Gigacube (not gigabyte) or Powercolor

So the radeon from powercolor suck?....should i buy the 9800 pro 128mb from another brand that is not powercolor( the one i was thinking on getting)?

Coylter, so should i get the built buy ati 9800pro?

And BTW What do you guys think about COOLERMASTER cases and THERMALTAKE cases ? i ask this because i think ill get a good ANTEC case with a 430w p/s but i thought, why dont spend 6$ more on a COOL looking case with a p/s of 400w, what is better a reliable recommended ANTEC case with 430w p/s, or a real cool THERMALTAKE case with 3 fans ( the antec has 4) and a p/s of 400w.??

Well look for a case that has ventilation on the side....front ventilation is not realy usefull since the air from front is blocked by the cable and drives. For the PSU look for a good brand psu (antec, CM, TT) . Some random 500w maybe worst than a good 300W...

coylter so it doesnt matter if a choose a thermaltake with 400psu rather than an antec with 430psu? or should i go with the antec because it has 1 more fan at the back? the antec has 4 fans and the thermaltake has 3 fans, which one is better the Thermaltake VA3000 Dream Tower Tsunami 400psu or the ANTEC Performance Plus 430psu? Should i stick with the TT with cool looking and 400psu or the ANtec medium looking and 430psu???

BTW is 400w enough or should i stick with 430w?

case that has ventilation on the side....front ventilation is not realy usefull since the air from front is blocked by the cable and drives
another BTW (LOL) both cases have rear fans (rear ventilation)

Something else BOTH cases (the TT and the Antec) come with their origynal (fomr teh same brand) psu.

Get the 3500, it's socket 939 which is the new AMD socket and the motherboard will last you a lot longer.

What is overclocking and how do i overclock my graphics card, my cpu, and the rest of the stuff?

To Overclock the graphics card, download ATi Tool and run the "Find max core" and "Find max mem" functions after setting it to stop scanning for mex clock after XXXXsec without artifacts (in the Artifact scanning, in the settings part) To overclock your CPU, go into the bios when booting up the PC and inrease either the FSB, or the multiplier.... The best yield will come from increasing the FSB, but it depends how fast your memory is.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN OVERCLOCKING THE CPU, I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR IT'S DEATH IF IT BREAKS WHEN OVERCLOCKING.

PS. What processor is it?

Its an athlon 64 3400 with newcastle core 512k L2 cache.

BTW why do the amd 64 with 512k work at higher spedds than the ones with 1m L2 cache? is 512k bettter than 1m chache? ( i know 512k is almost the half of one mb) what is the difference in perfomrance between those two?

Hi, im new to the forum...sup?

Anyway, you know how you said that the celerons are a POS? Yes they are, but you forget the the prescott version of them are actaully pretty nice, for a price of only 80 bucks, you could buy a 2.53 GHZ Celeron D (prescott) which overclock to 3.9 on air! (out preforms 3.2GHZ P4 e. So the Celeron D are desent for gaming, and a big improvement from the northwood ones. (1.8GHZ celeron D out preforms a 2.6 GHZ normal celeron) And also how you said the FX 5500 is slower than the 5200, how could i be slower than the 5200 when there the exact samething except the 5500 is 128 bit (unlock most 5200, which are 64 bit)and is clocked 20 MHZ more? And also theres no such thing as a 5500 Ultra as far as i know.
