Ok, so I put my 360 up for sale for $700 (it's a large bundle), to save up for a PC. I already have few components that I need. Anyways, I don't like the xbox very much anymore, but some of my xbox live friends still want to play me, or just message me or chat with me while they're playing their xbox. The only way to do this is to get Halo 2 or Gears of War right? are either games worth getting? Is shadowrun worth buying or does it suck?

As far as I know the only games that you listed that are cross platform is shadowrun. Cross platform meaning you can play against 360 players while you are playing the PC version.

Games for windows live uses an interface similar to the xbox dashboard so if you logged in using your xbox live info you could still talk to your friends and stuff.

Thanks. but do you know if any of these games are good? I've heard many bad things about Halo 2 vista, and Shadowrun doesn't look too fun to me. Is Gears of War a good port? Are any of these games worth my time?

This is actually the stupidest thing ever posted on B.net:

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Well how big of a Halo fan are you? Games for Windows has a good selection of games that can be played over Live, just check out the Games fpr Windows website.

People who -blam!- about Halo 2 Vista is because the expected more from it OR because they are trying to run it on a piece of (explicit) PC.

It is a 5-year old console port. It is Halo 2 on your computer. Nothing more. Nothing Less. I love it.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I had a problem with the mouse control. Most people seem to prefer using a 360 controller, but not me. Luckilly, I found a solution to the mouse problem that works for me.

Halo 2 is also cross platform supported, so Signing in to your gamertag via Windows Live would still allow you to communicate with them.

^^ but not necessarily play with them, the g4wl interface allows cross platform communication but the games have to be designed for crossplatform play to play another platform.

As far as I know, Shadowrun, Universe at War, and Lost Planet: Colonies Edition <(must be colonies edition, not regular) are designed for cross-platform play.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.
