Mine, while better than my old one, is pretty crappy (plus, it's not mine). Take a look-

800Mhz G4 Processer
AGP Geforce 2 MX 32MB VRAM
Integrated Sound
16' LCD Flat screen 1024x768

Plus, I't's un upgradable! I'm guessing that this is probably the crappiest rig that can play halo (barely) that you people have seen. It surprisingly does ok on the lower graphics settings. I have been unable to find any mac compatible oerclocking software for it.

Eheheh...

Cursing all Imac's (but loving apple corp),

Mines a Dimension 3000:
Intel® Celeron® D Processor 320 (2.40GHz, 533MHz FSB, 256KB L2 cache)
512 RAM
nVidia GeForce FX 5500 128mb

It was cheap and we needed a new computer so we got it. We are going to custom make our next one.

hp pavilion ze4400 (pc laptop)
Windows XP SP2
AMD Athlon xp2200+ clocking at 1.8 GHz
ATI Radeon 5600
60 GB HD

not the best specs in the world, but it does my work, and lets me play my games. I just turn off the blood, since it slows the comp only on levels like the grav lift in T&R and the beach landing in SC

That's true...

Hey io...its an ATI Radeon for sure, i was pretty sure that number (5600) was right, though. Feel free to prove me wrong, though. I wont mind.

P.S how can u run Halo without "Decals" on! they're like the whole game! Anyways i find i can run Halo fine without any lag on Campaign with decals on, shadows off, specular off, particles on low, and detail on high.

Simple. Deactivate the decals.

lol

Seriously, though, decals slow me down. I can run with them, but only if my computer feels like it. Most of the time, i turn it off.

I also turned them off to try to cure my habit of corpse-smacking...where you desecrate a dead body to...

-see the blood fly off and spatter the floor and walls

-vent your anger over that damn overcharged pistol which took away your precious overshield

-etc...

Age: 16
Occupation: Alt. band (oh so little income), yard service

I would say decals are the absolute last thing you disable until you find a good spot. Textures, particles, specular, lighting, decals is a good order to activate them in.

u seem smart for a 16 yr old. well, i'm a 11 yr old. (seriously, not lying)
To earn money, i try to get to the state level of the geography bee, and win past to the finals, so i get money! ( thast how i got 6600 gt)

Just play with decals on but with all other settings off.

I didn't know that P4's were old enough to run at 1.4 GHz... damn they need a new chip, voltage/heat whores...

That was the first P4. I gots a question. I have a 1ghz P3 and a 5200. I can upgrade to 1.2ghz but I am wondering whether it will make much of a difference. Also with what card will the bottleneck change from the card to the CPU? And can I put an AMD chip in my mother board (I will post what it is in a few mins)

Its an ASUS TUV4X. I went to their site and I'm almost positive I can't but ya never know.

Hey apple users, just a question...

-How do you play with a 1-button mouse? Dont you need to devote half your keyboard, then, to nades and zoom?

Ok, maybe just 2 buttons, but still...

Davis? you're only 16? wow. You know a heck of a lot about computer stuff. I just keep up with Intel and Nvidia.

Here's my current computer:

Windows 98SE
AMD Thunderbird 800 MHz
ASUS something or other Mobo
512 MB PC-100 RAM
GeForce 2 MX/MX400 64MB
Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1
30 GB HD
16x48x DVD-ROM
CD-RW
2 sets of Cyber Acoustics speakers: 4 satellites, a 3" subwoofer and a 6" subwoofer (gotta have my bass)

network + modem
keyboard + mouse
14" monitor

This computer is pretty slow when it comes to Halo. But it's good enough for me right now.

I almost have enough money for the computer in my signature...

Chewy, you won't notice any difference, really. The old slot-cpu's like the P3 have a pretty old architecture anyway, so another 200MHz will give maybe 1 frame per second on games.

yes but if he updates his processor, he can run searches, downloads faster, installations faster etc. The pentium 3 really is old, but my dad has an old pentium II in his basement.
