I've either missed em in the myriad of threads posted every minute in this forum or there simply arent many posts about how incredibly devestating the energy sword seems to be.

It may be because it's just so damn cool that you can use it and we just want it in our hands but everything I've read about using the energy sword seems to be that you turn into a killing machine. Left and right I'm reading about how people got instant triple kills and consecutive killing sprees when they're wielding the sword.

Dont get me wrong, I wanna use that beast to, but where's all the gripe about overpowered weapons and being unbalanced when this one weapon seems to turn you into the Terminator.

Calm my thoughts, someone.

it dosn't unbalance every thing coz is a melee weapon so people would probaly kill you before you can kill them with the sword coz when your running at them they would be shooting @ you

yeah, and besides, how would you kill some one thats 100M away with a sniper rifle, when all you have is the sword?

Most of the time if not always you will have a second gun, if you're running around 100 meters away from any enemy with your sword out instead of a gun you deserve to get shot. But it kind of sounds to me like every person who's had hands on impressions about halo2 kind of makes you feel that everytime someone poped on the screen with a plasma sword people would flock to the person trying to get their hands on the new weapon. Which is just what you would want them to do if you had one equipped and all they were accomplishing is giving the person a bunch of moving targets to kill. I would assume people would start developing better strategy against the sword after a day or so of playing multiplayer.

Once the shock factor of the melee weapon wears off i doubt anyone will think of it any differently than any other weapon of high power like the rocket launcher. Keep a safe distance and you should have no problem taking the guy out.
