They've got helmets, and armor, and look really cool (Except for those -blam!-,-blam!-,-blam!- crotchplates).

They're one step above the marines, they have full body armor, can carry 2 weapons, and have more health (maybe shielding) than regular marines.

ODST or Orbital Drop Shock Tropper. These soldiers are a special kind of crazy. They mount up in one man pods and are dropped from oribt. The pods get really freaking hot and not all of them make sometimes. It is an all voulnteer unit due to the dangers that job entails. Also they are a form of Special Forces that always get "smacked down" by the Spartans' superior abilities in combat. Basically an Marines vs Navy thing where the Navy always wins.

And no they don't have shielding. Only the MJOLNIR Mk II and III aromor has that because of the mini fusion core that is in the suits.

"Help Help I'm being repressed! Come and see the Violence inherent in the system!"
"Bloody peasant!"
"Oh did you see that? you saw him repress me?"

Also they don't follow the MC, the opposite actually if you read the books as their major has a prob with the MC <"the flood"> and just because they're in one trailer with him, doesn't mean your gonna have them follow you. be cool tho to have some better bad ass support rather than -blam!- marines!

one more thing: they don't make stupid mistakes with grenades. ever run into the gravity lift in truth and reconciliation only to hear some marine shout 'fire in the hole'?
