Subject: My First Montage

So I'm bored on christmas break, what to do? I had TONS of halo videos from my time at college, so why not imortalize it. I had never wanted to make a montage and never made it a goal but I figured I could do something fun to make a point of my time at school. Me and my dorm buddies had all sorts of fun just relaxing and beating the hell out of each other. We had DAYS and DAYS of game play, what else do you expect college males to do in a dorm room? So here is my finished product, I hope you enjoy it and thank you all so much for the memories!!

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

I like it... nice and simple, some good gameplay, avoiding fancy editing, and only mildly annoying screamo music :-D

I always like seeing people's first efforts at a montage -- it's never as polished as later work, but gives you good insight as to a person's potential. I suspect that your next one will be excellent!

I would suggest trying some faster editing cuts, and time them with the music. Avoid anything that would give people some kind of epileptic seizure, but try editing it so that each scene is only 3 or 4 seconds long, with a few occasional longer clips in there to give the eyes a rest.

Also, I'm sort of coming to the opinion that music selection is much more important than most people realize. Gangsta rap or screamo music are both very "classic" and it's fine, but try branching out. Also, see if the occasional insertion of in-game sound (for example, keep the music going, but also dub in the announcer's "Killtacular!" over top) doesn't add something.

A nice first effort!!

The Risk Is Worth The Reward.
Cry Havoc And Let Slip The Dogs Of War.

It was a great first montage. I would like to see more clips from the first person view though.

RIP Logan ~B.B.

I didn't like how the music switched every clip, or how you seemed to credit more players than could have possibly been in the video, but I do appreciate that you didn't make the screen flash wildly every time you got a kill.

thanks for all the complement guys, ill remember this. As far as maps, its just a matter of whats played, the brothers liked to play guardian alot, hence the guardian map. I definate will dive into music more, just didnt want to spend HOURS going through 1000s of ipod songs. As far as people that are in the videos, they are in there mainly for there own person gradification, they know what they did and it was juat a dedication to them and they fun we had.

I recently just bought a capture card and will be using it on my next montage so definately look for alot more editing like yall suggested.
