"As a student, I am still confused on the college education I should be looking into and preparation I should be applying myself in if I want to enter the game design industry, There's stories of veterans saying practice and try, but for any teenager, it still seems confusing.
I'm more of an artist (Starting Photoshop) and less of a engineer, but I don't know what to consider in universities and such.
Can anyone help me?"
This is a huge topic, but in general anyone interested in a career in games as an artist, needs to have very strong traditional art skills. This means you need to be able to draw better than the other kids, and it helps if you can draw better than anyone else in your school. Spend as much time with a sketch pad, any spare time you have should be spent training yourself. Art is one of the few skills you can train yourself at any time you want for almost nothing. But classes are also important for learning art theory and new media. If your art basics are strong and you're technical, everything else will fall into place. All the software in the world will be useless if you aren't a solid artist underneath. Hope this helps.
