How do you become a Bungie.Net Mod?

  • 04.10.2005 6:59 PM PDT

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Don't worry about it, because I am nearly positive you will never become one. You don't become a mod, you are chosen. To become a mod you must learn the way of tru7h, and eat the path.

You have to learn to juggle chainsaws.

Flaming chainsaws. Blindfolded, true ninja-style.

How do you become a Bungie.Net Mod?

Practise!

... Oh wait, that's something else... Needless to say the chances of becoming a mod are slim to none. Just concentrate on being a decent member of the community for maximum satisfaction.

Ach! Was ist los?

Becoming a Moderator is like becoming a Spartan; if they like what they see, they pick you without warning.

Whenever they are looking for a moderator, they look around the forums and choose someone worthy of doing so. They most-likely don't need any more moderators now, at least that is what I have heard. Being a helpful member, making good threads, etc. can get you some "credit" around the place.

Oh, and you can't ask to become one. They have to ask you.

Presenting... The Seven-ish step plan to become a Moderator:

Step one: Play every Bungie game in existence.

Step two: Discuss the story of every Bungie game in existence for, say, 7 years, until you are completely confused, but still think you actually know what happened in Marathon Infinity.

Step three: Become a contributor to the Bungie.net forums. Continue to contribute meaningful discussion for a long long time.

Step four: If you're really lucky, wait for the current moderators to suggest you to Bungie.

Step five: Wait for the message from Sketchfactor informing you that you have been selected.

Step six: Accept the invitation to become a moderator.

Step seven: Make a sweet Bungie-related custom avatar, send it to Sketchfactor.

Step seven: Wait about three years until Sketch actually gets around to giving you your powers and your custom avatar.

Step seven: Start moderating the forums.

lol. Basicly, don't worry about becoming a moderator and focus more on building up a good reputation as a member.

There is a simpler way. You just have to get run over by SketchFactor then as a settlement you put in Bungie.net Moderatorship. Bam your in simple huh? With the exclusion of excrutiating pain your there your in.

I've got the first three down, but I can't see the Mods recommending a smartass like me to Bungie. Giving up one's sense of humor seems to be a major requirement of Mod-hood.

Most mods never had that in the first place...

*Wishes he never said that* Mods have a sense of humour. They just have to be ultra careful what they say.

I think they will 'go with the flow' and only appoint new ones when they're really needed.

Whaaaaa? Who says that we have no sense of humor? I should ban you for that! *wink*

See? I thought that was funny as hell. But I guess that it's a matter of perspective. *grin*

Case in point: what happened to the Recon Number 54 we all knew and loved? The one who had something witty to say about every topic in The Underground? The one who spread those jokes via PM? The one we could count on to enlighten the curious?

No offense, but you've hardly been any of that ever since the promotion. You're still funny, but so hard to find...

And Shishka's definitely lost something. What he lost, I don't want to know.
