They sold the engine for h1 to Wideload.

Anyhow: re-releasing h1 would be admitting halo 2 sucks

Would you rather have them make Halo 3, or some crappy remake of an inferior game?

I would rather they fill in the blanks between Halo 1 and Halo 2. Anybody read the books? There is so much missing. So I dont know if I would rather enable Halo 1 for L!VE or see a Halo 1.5 or whatever they want to call it as long as it fills in the blanks.

All they would have to do is farm out the work like they did with Halo PC. They don't do the work, but the get a part of the profits.

SniperLegend12: not remake, just add live

I don't care if they farm it out to another firm.

Yoozel: Please explain why not? Just point me to the link if it's already been explained why not.

Because there has been a lot of threads of the exact same subject and because, well, it's not gonna happen.

Bungie has made roughly half a dozen games. Why would they take the time, to re-sell there second newest product, when they could sell[or re-make] there older games{Marathon,Myth etc.}

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I don't see how adding XBL functionality to halo would take a huge amount of resources.

The game already has net code, add an optimization layer on the DVD itself for net code (i.e. that tranlates and transmits). There is no reason not to farm this out if manpower is such an issue.

I don't see ppl banging down the door for their older games, but I know that I, all my friends and appearently a large number of ppl on these forums asking again and again: give me halo on XBL. The reason that they'd do this (other then to make a large number of ppl happy) is to make a profit.

You see, I'm asking for a minor change in functionality for an already completed product, that should involve minor cost, this would imply a large profit margin with even a 'small' number of sales.

on a side note: You wouldn't buy halo with live ability?

Ah, thanks EAGLES5, but that's not answering why. Ok, I'll never see halo on XBL. I give, you win (I realize that you are actually on my side). But WHY won't I have halo on XBL.

Because Bungie likes being original. Look at Coagulation compared to Blood Gulch, or in the newest OXM you see how different Longest is. Also they went from, FPS,RTT,TRF[whatever Oni is} to FPS. They probably[after Halo 3, which probably takes priority to Halo 1.5] would want to do another genre after Halo, maybe invent another one like they did with Myth.

They didn't sell the engine for Halo to Wideload. Bungie still retains the rights to that, Wideload is merely using it as a template for their upcoming title.

Maybe it was deleted because it will never happen. As far as I am aware Halo ported badly to the PC, the net code has many many bugs in it. If you want to play Halo use either a tunnel program, or get it for PC. Though I'd recommend the tunnel program.

I'd bet that if a XBL ready Halo CE was released it's sales would rival H2's sales. I don't understand the technical side of it, but from a profit viewpoint they'd make a mint.

heres an idea...no...halo three is where it will be at, and remaking halo 1, well, it will take precious time from halo 3...if its even going to be made...which is most likely, but still

All you have to do is ignore the topic and go to the next one. It DID belong here. There was no real reason for it to be locked. If people weren't interested in the topic, then it would drop to the bottom and no one would respond to it.

Give me a break. They say they don't like to rehash game yet they farmed out Halo CE to be made into Halo PC. Then they bring back a bunch of old maps. How is this not rehashing?

"Why won't there be an Xbox live enabled version of Halo 1?" you ask. Because Bungie has explicitly said as much multiple times. Check Recon's post here to see for yourself.

That says that they aren't (but not why) and it says that they can't do it as a patch.

I'll buy the game again....a whole new DVD.

Fans are asking for it.....so Why not?

Also: somebody mentioned XBC. I have friends in 5 cities that I'd like to play with (Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Winsdor and Vancouver )....halo will only connect four xboxes at a time, so XBC doesn't cut it for me. Furthermore, Halo won't support voice.
