Here is the link to the video of my creation:
Guilty Spark: Retro Atomic
Why did I make it?
I have been playing Halo 3 too much and have not given back to the community. To fix this problem I simply stopped playing Halo for a few and picked up on a few skills. I am experienced with most media but the three-dimensional, so I brushed off my old 'noggin and practice a bit. Later when I am all finished with my collection of 3D baddies, I will create a new thread with the links to HD turntables for viewing. The next in line for creation are: G_spark (Aperture Science), G_Spark (Steam Punk), and Brute Honor Guard (Ivory Armor).
How did I make it?
I used Zbrush and 3Ds Max to create a mockery of 343 Guilty Spark. It is supposed to resemble some of the robotics in Fallout 3 (especially those floating radios). I love post apocalyptic games and decided to use the style in my future works. At its current state, this piece looks more like a "Guilty Spark: Retro Space invaders". I have yet to add ambient occlussion-maps and normal-maps to further the render process. The only normal-mapping I have added is on the front "iris/caged visor". The end result should look as if it just came out of the ashes from a nuclear blast with tarnished metal that seems to flake a bit.
Easy?
Yeah, If you are the determined type. Some of these things are even monkey-friendly. If you have a brain, you should do just fine. Once I get more of a handle with the 3D spectrum, I will use 3Ds Max to animate some of my works. I will most likely use it to animate the Retro Spark for an overlay in a set of machinema.
