I'm curious about cheating in HaloPC, not that i want to cheat but i'm curious as to what type of cheating people have seen or heard of and any possible ways of fighting against it. I was playing a CTF on Danger Canyon (practically a lost cause when i joined 8-1) and about half way through my playing (i think i was there for an hour before i had to quit) someone said "they are coming through the walls!" and sure enough the blue bastards were coming straight through the walls. I'm curious to how they did this, is it some program or are they using some form of ingame command? but what i'd really like to know is other than the obvious appearing out of no-where is there a way to detect cheating players before hand? eventually it got to a point where the game was lagging in a cheating manner, i'd be standing absolutely still then all of a sudden i'd be in a different spot ahead of where i was and i just barely started to move.

i think the funniest part was that i was standing by the flag with a shotgun for like 5 minutes as they kept running up to the flag and i'd blow them away...its sad that a cheating person can't even manage to take out somebody camping in the same open spot for five minutes.

i hate cheaters...anybody with any information on anti-cheating it would be appreciated

If you ram your teammate at full speed with a hog against the back wall of Danger Canyon he will pop thru behind the enemy base. It is an exploit of the map and is considered cheating and you will most likely be banned if there is an admin. I was playing a game and one player had four times as many kills as everyone else. A fellow Clan member and asked him if he had his auto-aim turned on. The player replied yes. A lot of people think aimbots and such won't work in Halo because of the lag. If the target is stationary or moving towards or away from the shooter lag won't come into play.

true lag won't come in to play if they aren't movine or running straight at you but if they're doing that then they're gunna die anyway... an aimbot would be tarded to say the least... and as for getting out of the map on infinity the only time i've ever been out of infinity is in modded maps. The only two in game "glitches" which are different from cheats in the fact that they are exploitable by BOTH teams all you have to know is how to do it. like the above mentioned post to get through DC. and if you say "oh I didn't wanna know how to do it!" no one can be quite sure of that because all a person needs to know is the general idea of the glitch o cheat and let search engines take over. the other "glitch" that I know of is in timberland and is an out of the map glitch.

Now before you judge me I personally have never tried to get through DC like above mentioned and I HAVE tried the Timberland one but I personally have never pulled it off. I have seen it pulled off tho. but glitches are like I said. available to both teams. (there are so many discussions in the halo 2 forums about this but why not bring it to the pc) therefore not really cheating... iit's just a skill that the other team is capable of but just doesn't know how to do. now trainer's speedhacks and the lot when used in online play are indeed cheating.

but before sounding like a complete idiot and accusing people of cheating that arent' watch what they do. if they have a ping of less than 200 yet are warping around like they got a 56k then they prolly have the speed hack I personally haven't found any map hacks and they aren't plausible considering it checks for more than just the name of the map already... but where there's a will there's a way I guess. another thing to look out for is someone who never reloads.

but one thing you shold keep in mind when trying to fight a cheater, if they are speed hacking they won't go any faster than normal so you mainly have to predict where they will go. yes they dissapear for short times or warp but that is actually the server telling them where they are which is another reason why speedhacks and such don't work...

finally search out clan servers and bungie servers and play on the clan servers you trust and whatever bungie server you like... mainly because in order to succesfully cheat. a person has to host the game... so as sad as it is to say... try to stay out of any other server.

I don't use glitches to help me win. I do however feel it is better to know about them than not. If someone is using the glitch, you can find them faster if you know it too.

Heyyo,

Ok, my turn to post. ;)

Nope, speed is controlled server side. When you jump and you warp? that's the server trying to sync you with what it thinks is happening. So I'm sure for speedhacks (if they exist) you need to host.

the wireframe thing? that's possible I guess, but makes the game look fugly as it's only highlighted polygon sides...

There is indeed no aimbots for HaloPC. It's not really cause the server's code, but gearbox diddn't include any fakeclient support, which's needed for aimbots, and npc's like multiplayer ai. This's why the SP ai on Halo maps don't sync on everyone's computer since the game doesn't consider them actual players and doesn't bother to sync them.

Mr. B the speed is done server side. keep in mind i'm not trying to pick a fight here just trying to get you to realize something. when someone has the speedhack on they will have an advantage tot he average player because they are warping everywher. but they are warping like this.

two players can start running from the exact smae place in the exact same direction. player with speed hack on will dissapear and on his screen will be way ahead of the non cheat. the server tells the cheaters comp where he is and he warps back even with the non cheating player.... same thing happens when you use a jump modifiying prog and are not the server host... doesn't work. it starts to shw the person with the cheat working but then the server steps in.

now your one hard piece of evedeince is how fast he capped the flag... ponder a couple things before you assume that

Me and my little brother often teamwork using Team Speak, I'll drive the hog and drop him off in the back then pick him up in the front with absolutely NO stopping. from the time his feet hit the ground till the time he caps the flag is on average 15 seconds. Me and my brother have gotten the flag cap on Battle creek down to 6 seconds.... with that in mind

different internet connection speed DOES mean different running speeds. while a minor difference it's still a difference this gap is more noticable in vehicles.

some games have walking speed bonuses for 1. dying a lot or 2. killing a lot without dying

It is known that people play video games to "zone out." often this "zoning" causes them to lose track of time, even if it's 15 seconds seeming like 5

i like to go onto crappy games and cheat and piss people off, just for fun and no im not part of myg0t. for the cheats, if youre getting that many kills camping, why complain?

hmmm interesting, i'll have to try to look out for some of these. i just didn't know how the heck they were coming through the walls, that was just nuts, but it was funny. yes i would assume you could get up on Infinity easily with a banchee just by working it right, it doesn't look like its impossible, but the time it'd take me to work on it i could be half way across the map or somebody'd sneak up behind me and take me out. heck on the second level of the campaign i drove the warthog up the side of a cliff just by alternating between left and right forcing it to climb up the wall, so i was using the turret to take out some of the slower enemies (but damn they were blasting me with charged pistols from far away, legendary is hard!)

but thanks anyway, also how can you tell if people are using the wireframe cheat?

lol no zoning eh? and no warthog... just warped across...hmmm...well I say one of two things... one hell of a lucky lag jump *I lagged about 50 ft once but that was right off a cliff intot he middle of danger canyon.... or like you said a speedhack... while I personally doon't see how'd they do it it is possible that maybe they were using a prog that cold spam positions to your server.... idk .... to bad M$ won't gve us anymoe patches...

Those are modded servers. Some games allow everyone to go places, some don't. Try jumping at random places like the thingies on BG bases or in little crevices.

I fell through the floor in danger canyon. I was near the wall outside the base. The opposing team showed up. Just as I was about to fire at them it seemed like the ground fell away beneath my feet and I fell for a long time. As I was falling I could see the game playing above me, (it was like the ground was transparent). They got the flag. Eventually I hit bottom and died and respawned. They scored and won. Is this a glitch or does someone have a cheat that can do this?

I have seen through the floor in danger canyon before. I didn't fall through but the floor became invisible.

We'll i was playing on the new maw server when this guy on my team runs like a madman throhg the bridge real quick. He acted like he knew what he was doing too. I was playing with obaten (hes on the forums) and he saw the same thing. The guy explained to obaten that he was tricking the server into thiniking that he was on a real slow computer allowing him to run fast.

I dont know much about it, but you cant go through walls in halo, except in danger canyon. I dont know how, but there is a way to get through the wall at the back of the base. Because they are to close together apperantly.

You can go thru the walls in danger canyon. I have done it before, but i often fall to my death than actually getting to the other base, much less actually scoring a flag successfully. Plus, go read bungie's definition of cheating. It basically says it's not cheating if your opponent can do the same things that you can without hacks or other alteration software and crap like that.

The other night I saw something unusual: I was on the top of the enemy fort in BG. There were enemy players in the fort in the little nooks. They were running in place. I was shooting them with rockets and they continued to run in place even after 4 or 5 rockets. One rocket on the field would kill in that game. Was this some kind of lag mirage or a glitch? The players did not seem to be reacting to my shots in any way.
