Ok we all know master chief is a bad man. However in halo 1 all it took to smoke the chief was one swing of a plasma pistol to the back of the head and he was pushing up daisys. Hopefully in Halo 2 there will be a different animation for melees from behind. For example imagine one of your friends pinned down by two chiefs in multiplayer. You sprint behind one snap his neck like a twig and in the blink of an eye whip out your shotgun and greet the other with a shot to the face. Just a thought, what do you guys think?

I think snapping the neck actually makes less sense than just a melee to the back of the head. One, it takes more time, and two it requires two free hands when he should be holding a weapon. Considering that MC an lift a tank, a sharp blow to the base of the neck really is enough to drop a person in one blow, regardless of shield

What Bungie needs to do -- and I'm sure they may have thought of it -- is to make it so it'll be an instant kill only if you hit them from the neck up; I always thought it was funny when you pistol whipped their ass and they die...

Ok first off the snapping the neck animation can be done in the time it would take to hit someone with the pistol, flip it in the air, catch it and aim at some one. The guys at bungie could make this very quick and lethal. Secondly if there is an option of duel weilding grenades which there very well might be, you would not be holding a weapon leaving you two free hands to crank someones neck. So that would leave us with the good ol pistol hit when carring a gun while giving some much needed variety when duel wielding grenades. Also this would make for a much cooler impact on the guy your killing's screen. He would be running along then all of a sudden his screen jerks violently from left to right while a loud snap is heard by him and you. Then his lifeless body would fall slowly to the ground. As it is now the only thing that happens is the guy you hit from behind just falls down. What you guys think.

I just read the update and frankie speaks of a "new melee animation system" wonder what that is?

Well i'm not sure if you guys noticed this, but you can hit a guy anywhere on their back and it will kill them not just the neck up, and i find its good as it is you don't need to snap the guys damn neck.

Well in splinter cell you can move from room to room without being seen. Mabey if you move slow you will not be seen or you can sneak up on someone. :)

It says in an Xbox magazine that you are able to hide in the shadows so noone sees you, but then you miss out on killing so I would never do it.

how about like the combo kills which are suposed to be diffrent with each weapon they have a diffrent stealth meele kill with each weapon. with the quick meele weapons ie pistols maby sometihng simple like snap their neck or other quick but impressive kills and with the slow weapons like rocket launcher you could choke the victim from behind. One stealth meele that must be saved for the sniper rifle is a quick sling rifle, grab hunting knife, and slice the throught of the unsuspecting elite.Evil

I must say that the idea of a hunting knife for master chief does sound very nice. This combined with the "shadow" elements of the game such as shooting out lights to sneak around ala sam fisher would add in my opinion another awesome element to master chiefs arsenal. The thought of sneaking up behind an elite or one of my unsuspecting friends for that matter and slicing thier throat, then quickly changing to duel shotguns and smoking the rest of his rooty poo budies just seems like a hell of an idea. What ya'll think

the mc would never use any of that. 14 grunts in the same room and somehow you expect the mc to pull out his knife for a cooler kill.

One idea is when approaching someone from the front, hitting them from below their chin forcing them to look up and then going for the neck.

As for the "melee from behind", I like the idea of a hunting knife, or perhaps a covenant version of a hunting knife. Although such a weapon could be a constraint considering the 2 weapon limit, unless it could be used in combination with a pistol weapon.

Well obviously mc would not use a hunting knife in a room with 14 grunts. However he could use it when sneaking up on a unsuspecting elite or brute.

About neck snapping... I think its a waste of time. U don't get it. When someone comes to punch u before the punch hits ur muscles tense up and u move. That takes damage away from the blow. When someone sneaks up behind u and punches u in the back u have no clue what is about to happen so ur muscles don't tense up to help take away damage and u don't move. Pretty much that means the same for halo with melee. Also,

. Have u read Halo: first strike. He entered an entire clip from his br into a brute and it didn't slow it down. I don't think stabbing a brute in his pecks would do much but piss it off.
