Now -- I don't want to get ahead of myself here -- but I figure it's time we went a little more public with our plans.

For the last few years, Bungie Studios has been holding the "Bungie Fan Fest" usually at E3. For a while, 99% of people have felt left out.

We're trying to do something about it.

Nosferatu_Soldie and myself have been busting our tails looking for possible venues, scheduling, and sponsorship options (Obviously something of the scope will cost a great deal) to attempt to bring you the First Ever, (of an hopefully annual) EAST COAST Bungie Fan Fest.
(We obviously won't discriminate if you're west coast and would like to come -- we're just trying to make it easier for some East Coasters, who can't make it out to Washington or California at the drop of a hat.)

If you would like more information, feel free to ask any questions you wish, and feel free to PM either myself, or Nosferatu_Soldie at any time. We will answer them in the order recieved.

From what I have seen at the group's site, the Fan Fest will be in Pittsburgh. How about some Philly dates? I would be more that willing to go to Philly, but at this point in time, Pittsburgh is out of the question.

Edit: Damnit, I knew "Pittsburg" didn't look correct...

Well the main reason is drivability.

Pittsburgh is a little more centrally located as far as Interstates go, and has a large airport for people flying in.

Philly would be nice -- I'm only a half hour from there, but we've got to keep it as central as possible - We're thinking of looking at other cities as years progress though -- so Philly, Atlanta and NYC may see the Fest soon, if the first one goes well.

You should make a news story on bungie.net about your fanfest and then I'll accept it...

Once there's more concrete information about it, I'm sure someone will submit the news story. As of now - we need to find someone willing to take some treasurer responsibility to set up a Federal Tax ID number and an NFP Group account.

Drive there?!?!? It's actually cheaper to fly there from Philly than to drive there with the current gas prices.

Flying is certainly cheaper -- but some people don't like being strapped inside gigantic metal cylinders propelled forward at 500 miles an hour, 4 miles in the air. And we must think of them.

It isn't a tour, it's a convention. ^_^

Start thinking bigger and try to suit my needs, damnit! ;-)

I know it's only a convention, but I was just wondering if it could "expand".

*Me..Me...Me...Me..um?...Me??-dmbfan09*

Just kiddin, actually, i would also like to see it expand..maybe more than one location?? Of course it would have to be on a different date, but if it grows big enough, i don't see why not.

*ahem*

Bear in mind -- that this isn't free people...

I've estimated (conservatively) that we'll need around $45 -60,000 gross to make this work. I've composed a sponsorship proposal, and Nos has sent one out to Bungie -- Once we know what they want to do (or don't want to do) we'll decide on who else to petition for sponsorship. Hopefully a national chain, and a couple of local establishments, as well as related but separate industry.

Also bear in mind that just as the plans are tenative still, so too could Pittsburgh be tenative -- This is relatively early in the planning bearing in mind the date we started compiling information.

And dmbfan -- quit whining -- I'll pick you up on the way, you're only about half an hour from me. ;)

Oh yes, i did not forget about the money part, I am more interested about the date and location. Also, I would love to be a part of the setting up program, I am familiar with calling, emailing, and using many other forms of communication to gain sponsorship. So i spose the best place to help out would be the group linked in your first post...I think I would like to join...I think i will...

I still wanna friggin' go! If you're reading this thread you should either reply (to show that people are interested) or join the group (and actually be a part of the planning and such). I would love nothing more than to be able to slap some of you knuckleheads upside your...uh...head, and then give you all a good handshake and an ass kicking LAN style.

P.S. I can't get on IRC. OH TEH NOES!!1!!one!!! Somebody put me out of my misery!

Wow, oddest sight I've seen of you, lol. You should shut up too, you know I live in misery.

I'm still thinking about going, sorry for not being that active in that group Nos, been busy lately. Hopefully if I can work my arse off, get some money, I might be able to make it.

O, and to the guy in Minnesota, I live in Missouri(misery). So if I go, it'll end up costing me about 5 or 6 hundred.

You better...

But like I had said earlier, I would fly. And, after I had posted yesterday I had seen a commercial for Southwest saying that a one-way ticket to Pittsburgh from Philadelphia was $29. Of course, adding in taxes and other fees, it would probably be $100 round-trip, but that's still cheap (especially compared to driving, unless you have a hybrid car). I'm actually considering going now, I would just have to get my wife's approval...

Bring her along -- I'll be bringing mine. Of course -- we'll be driving since she's one of the people that believes the ground is perfectly good for travel, if you get my drift.

I think we should leave it up to the England community to organize what they want to do. Since they know more about their land than Americans.

EuroFanFest??

As Disney could tell you -- adding Euro to the front of something is a death sentence!

I'm just kidding.

We actually have a couple Brits that are considering attending the one in Pittsburgh, (If all goes well) but I think one in the UK would be cool as well. If you have some rabid fellows over there that would be interested in setting one up -- feel free, as far as I gathered from the last weekly update Bungie is all about letting the fans do things as well. We would obviously share some information as well.

I'm still not 100% that even the East Coast one will come off that easy, but I'm working on it.

Luckily EB Games Corporate headquarters is 30 minutes away from my house!

And what about me? :(

I would like to start a Fanfest in the netherlands, but i'm a afraid that there wouldn't be too many people coming down here. maybe if the brits would be willing to travel.... the tickets for the boat/plane are pretty cheap nowadays.

I feel really bad -- It was just that sort of emotion ("left-out") that spurred this on in the first place. The East Coaster have felt "out-of-the-loop" for a while now -- and I'm sure many of the others around the world do too --

But we're working on an East Coast solution, and maybe you all could do the same? everybody needs to put their heads together.
