Yes. I agree with you in some ways. War games are fun to play. I play them. I do get the rushes, and in some games (and films) it is possible to get a sliver of a feeling for what war may have been like, although without the fear of death, fear of being captured and tortued etc. Anyway, i kind of went off what my initial point was. I mean, does anyone else find it strange that guns are considered 'cool'? Or that it is possble for someone to have a 'favorite' weapon? These things at the end of the day KILL AND MAIM people. They leave children fatherless or motherless, they cause families to suffer immense grief. Guns, or any other type of weapon, are not cool, they are barbaric and monstrous creations. Sure i play video games, i shoot guns, i might think some of the the things they do in the gameworld is cool, heck i may say to one of my buds 'Yeah there is this cool weapon in this game ive got'. But the difference is that is in the game world. I know that in reality all i am doing when i am playing a game, i am sending messages to my Xbox, much in the same way i am sending messages to my PC when i am typing an email.
You guys are talking about real life weapons as if they were still in the video game. Which you shouldnt be doing. It is irresonsible and wrong. Yeah sure, filling a grunt with needler rounds in Halo is cool. Killing a German on Call of Duty is cool. What isnt 'cool', however, is a real life bullet tearing through the head of a small child. I think it is this final statement alone that sums up why you shouldnt think guns are cool.
Guns are cool as long as you aren't shooting someone or being shot at. Why can't it be cool to take a rifle or pistol out in the backyard and shoot cans and jars? Baseball is fun too, but not if someone cracks you over the head with a bat. I play lasertag, airsoft, and paintball, and i go to the shooting range once a week with real guns and i think it's cool. I have never shot a living thing with a real gun, and i never would.
