Sorry if this has been asked before but... Why don't the humans have more advanced weapons? Come on it's the 2550's for crying out loud. Why don't they have rail guns and lasers? The only high tech things the human's have are the shields on the spartans and the spaceships. I have a theory though... Maybe the weapons were too powerfull and outlawed by the world governments sometime before Halo 1. Hopefull MC finds a valt in Halo 2 that houses all of the old outlawed weapons. What do you guys think?

The only real "unadvanced" weapons to me would seem to be the shotgun (pump action?) and the AR (so unaccurate). Though all of the large scale weapons (the orbital defense cannons in the book) seem very high-tech in my opinion.

Well... i do admit that by then they should have like recoiless rifles and crap like that. But then would halo be as fun if it an AR that had a super huge explosive blast radius (explosive bullets) that homed in on enimies. Oh yes, and if it had infinite ammo?

Haha, yes! These thoughts get me as well.

C'mon hes a master chief! His gun should break a marine in half if they even tried to shoot it!
The AR should shoot shotun shell sized bullets with no recoil (because master chief is so strong)...but then the game would suckass.

Its best to just forget about stuff like this and go play Halo.

Think of how awesome it would be if MC found some old giant hand held particle cannon or at least a portable mini-gun. He could reak some serious havok with those things. He needs to pull the minigun off of a wort-hog and use it.

^ Wow! That's a frickin awesome idea.

I doubt that would ever happen...but if it did it would be awesome!

  • 07.08.2004 8:55 PM PDT

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

Yeah like if you come across a destroyed warthog you could rip the gun off the back if it wasnt damaged

It would be sorta like Escape From Butcher Bay (Riddick game), how the only way to get a minigun is to pull it off those battle-armor thingys.

The guns are more "futuristic" then they are today so, they are indeed "Futuristic".
They obviously dont look like the guns today, Espically a Pistol with a SCOPE.
(I Challenge you to find the scope on the pistol)

Kamizar, the LAAG is drum fed it's ammunition.

And about the pistol...look at the barrel. See the arch on top that goes over the barrel at the end of the barrel? That is a camera that feeds into his visor, which enables zooming.

If I'm wrong corret me.

How does it feed into his visor? And about the LAAG, I'm not sure if its drum fed, if you look, it has a belt that trails down into... this drum on the bottom... but its one big drum... so you'd either have to drag it behind, or carry it on your back. That is assuming that wouldn't grab the whole gun emplacement with the stand, just the gun itself.

What if MC gets cuaght between a rock and a hard place with out a gun but wait in a cabnet he sees some ones antique gun collection with antique amo that just happent so still be good. He pulls out the six shooters and a wichester and starts kicking covenent ass wild west style

The LAAG is chain fed, similar to modern day heavy machine gun emplacements, and light/heavy machine guns.

Dual wielding a couple of ancient single shot pistols... I think your on to something... to bad that those would take 30 seconds to reload.

Think about it this way guys, when the human race advances technology far enough to allow inter-stellar travel, guns would not be the first thing people would be thinking about. And the same rules aply today, we know the burning of fossil fuels will eventually destroy the planet, and hydrogen cars(cars that are like, 456% safer for the enviornment) are already invented, but why are we still using gas powered vehicles? Because we're lazy and stupid.

Your talking about objects available for public purchase. We are talking about military equipment. The military intends to constantly upgrade and modify our weapons. The only major issue is money. So if anything, its not that we are lazy or stupid, but we dont have enough money to fund a massive upgrade of weaponry. We may not have enough funding to begin researching new, more efficient forms of weaponry either.

We are stupid, and we are lazy, maybe thats why the Covenant hate us so much.

Well... the covenant don't seem oh so bright to me, and they are imitative, not inovative, so wouldn't that make them also lazy and stupid?
