I think that the reason they did this was to give the game a feeling of familiarity because we are all pretty much familiar with those kinds of guns from movies, tv, etc. Plus, they actually did put more advanced weapons in the game(plasma weapons), but how many of us actually liked to use them? Not very many. If they gave the humans more advanced weapons like the covenant, it would still be fun, but it wouldn't have that feeling of familiarity.

Yes, but those plasma weapons aren't human, and the question was didn't humans have more advanced weapons.

And yes, I do agree with you, as i posted earlier, it wouldn't be fun with a super-destructive weapon.

We are stupid, and we are lazy, maybe thats why the Covenant hate us so much.

Your wrong, we are not stupid or lazy. The number of enlisted members of the UNSC is probably what I don't know, maybe near 1 billion, maybe less, maybe more. Do you really think that the UNSC has the money to make all of those gun models, not to mention ammunition and has the time to destribute them to each and every soldier? Give me a break. That is a lot of money, which is already being used on other things, fleets of ships, equipment for marines, training and education for the non-commissioned members and officers, uniforms. Your crazy if you think there is enough money to do all of that.

I think the covenant theretend to fart on ther scitentists unless they designed new better wepons. Thats what we need to do we need to thertan to fart on our scintests. also i bet in 100 years we find out that new "pollution free" power souces are even more dangerus then what we use to today. they thought fossil fuels was clean back in the day.

my point was that the covenant weapons were advanced, and hardly anyone likes them, so if the human weapons were like the covenant weapons, would we like them?

No. Which is exactly why I agree with you, but the covenant carbine is looking pretty awesome, and it might be an alien weapon I might use (of course though, even if its better than the BR, I'm still using the BR).

They make the humans look less advanced so they are losing the battle fro that reason.

I didn't say they should have super destructive mega futuristic guns that make the game to easy and not fun, but to give the guns a more futuristic effects. Like the shotgun. Pump action, why is that even in the year 2551. It should be automatic. Have you played far cry? The shotgun in that was auto but was very balanced and not overly powerful. I mean you could give it more ammo, make it fire faster, and do less damage. Basicly make it do the same damage in the same amount of time as the pump. Get what i'm saying? But also to have one level in the game with some unstoppably powerfull weapon like on the mech level in Chronicles of Riddick.

I totally agree with you about the shotgun... but it wouldn't be the same if it was fully-auto, I think semi-auto would be better.

Well, one thing futuristic about the AR is that it holds so many rounds (7.62 rounds; the M16 uses 5.56) in a tiny clip. Yet the sniper holds only 4 rounds, and they have .50 cal sniper rifles that hold like 10 (ever hear of the Barret?).

That's sort of what i was thinking to. Maybe the guns on the Pillar were just crap guns because they weren't prepared for a land battle and had just basic equiptment. Maybe that is why the AR from halo 1 isn't in halo 2. I also like how they have added guided missles to the rocket launcher. That no longer makes them crappier than ones in the year 2004. (Although they probably had some sort of specially designed warhead that could penatrate much thicker and stronger armor than that is availible now a days).

They do have an automatic shotgun now, and it is very powerful. I believe it's called the USAS-12 or something like that in Rainbow Six 3.

The sniper rifle is about .60 cal. It says in the manual. That in my oppinion is one futuristic rifle. I mean those rounds are really huge and it has very little recoil.

We never said that automatic shotguns didn't exist, we said they didn't exist in Halo.

In the maual it says the sniper has 14.5x 114mm rounds... I have no idea how you convert that.

plus, one possible reason the shotgun was pump is that its cheaper to make so they can make more of them

Would a quadruple (probably spelled that wrong) barrel fully auto shotgun that holds 910437893274 rounds be futuristic for you? Maybe we should consider that shotguns themselves aren't futuristic.

if your talkin futuristic you might as well bomb halo with giant spaceships and not mess with guns. nothin against you guys i know exacly what you mean. but you have to give the covenant a chance considering they have slow and half way non effective plasma guns. thats what halo is all about, a challenge. not killing everything in your path with ease. i know what you mean though.

In the books it actually says that in about every spaceship battle we have lost but we have won almost every ground battle against the covenent. I'm sort of starting to think our ground weapons are more effective then theirs. Ohhh wait the shotgun is futuristic. It is 8 gauge but has little recoil. After thinking about it a little bit the guns are futuristic. I still want an automatic shotgun though. But im not going to boycot bungie if they don't put one in.
