Seriously. I'm not going to buy Halo Wars for the maps. I feel I got swindled into getting Crackdown for the Halo 3 beta, but that's not going to happen this time.
I think they (Microsoft) knows that on its own, Halo Wars wouldn't do too well, and there's just enough people who would go and shell out what-$70 for a "limited edition" for the maps alone (further justifying mediocre limited/collectors edition SKUs of products to bean counters) so that they can point to what a huge success Halo Wars is with the sales.
I think everyone should resist buying it on principal, to send a message that this stuff won't stand.
If something equally shady is done with Halo 3: Recon/ODST (no offense guys-but that's about like the change from 'Revolution' to 'Wii', I think I understand why you did it...but still, when older people are asking you what an Odst is, and if it's german or something, there's a title problem), then I'm not going to get it either.
I've been at odds about how the map pack is split up anyways...though I guess that is to keep people coming back to Halo 3, and having something to look forward to besides Call of Duty *insert Number and or subtitle*, and Guitar Hero *insert Artist*. I can get over it, but I think we all know that if the map pack was going to be available for download that day, that Halo Wars would be practically unplayed, except by people who are just RTS junkies, or so into Halo that they would buy just about anything to do with Halo.
This whole thing stinks guys, I'm sorry that it bothers me, but if possible, could we have specifics on when the map pack will be available for download, or barring that, how exactly will the map packs be made available? Through a download code, or will it be on the Halo Wars LE Disk? Again, this whole thing seems a desperate attempt to legitimize "special" SKUs other than the standard product.
I'd guess it would be like the GOW2 throwback maps (whatever it was called) where it was a download code, cause if they were on the disk, I'd go in halves with a friend, and trade that sucker in as soon as the goods were on our drives.
