Everything seems to work ok but I can't get the dmn thing to stop lagging. And it isn't internet leg because I ran it through my tv and it ran fine but still lagged on the pc screen (in other words, I press the trigger, the controller shakes, on the tv I fire bullets, but on the pc screen the bullets fire just a moment or so later). I tried downgrading the video quality, I tried downgrading the 3d accelerator. Nothing made even the slightest difference. My pc is really fast too. I have a p4-3.0 with a full gig of ram. Any help would be appreciated as the company (ATI) sucks nuts and I don't mean the kind squirrels eat. Their tech support is right up their with P.O.W. camp medical plans and communist rock and roll concerts. Help.

Most tech support sucks, utterly. Chaintech didn't even speak english...

It sounds like spyware. Do you have multiple spyware scanners that run once a week? Spybot Search and Destroy and AdAware are good to use together, with something like CCleaner to clean out internet explorer files. Otherwise sounds like that.

Crank down the sound quality. Set variety to low and quality to low. Do you have a sound card?

And what's the thing with the tv...? It's fine on the tv but not your pc screen?

Do you gave a flat monitor or a crt monitor? Cause i heard problems before that halo for some reason laggs a little on flat sceen monitors.

That would be because LCDs are slower than CRTs. Unless you want a flat screen and have lots of money to spend, CRTs are better for gaming in general.

Heyyo,

Hmm, what could be occuring is you're main setup is to the tv, and your analog monitor out is only set to clone.. from my experience cloning doesn't always work right. Plus, you did mention you have an AIW.. buddy, it wasn't built for gaming, it's built for media purposes like importing and exporting video.. If you wanted a gaming videocard you should've got a ATI Radeon 9600 PRO or XT.

Don't crank down your video acceleration, that's more likely to cause preformance problems.

Yeah, get the latest drivers that are made for AIW's, might be Catalyst driver suite.. not sure..

And what do you have your video settings at? don't tell me full cause a 9600's only a budget videocard. I had my 9600 PRO before set to:

Screen Rez: 640x480
Framerate: 120Hz
Vsync: On

Specular: Off
Shadows: Off
Textures: High
Particles: High

and that ran the game with a pretty steady framerate. About an average of 37F/S on the timedemo I think..

Time demo is a damn lie i time demo my thing it told me i get 7 fps per second when i really get 20-30fps.

In general, I don't think a TV signal can cross over to a monitor signal. It uses a different coding of data, or something. For me I have to use a different plug on the card and set the feed to 'TV-analog playback' to run it on a TV. Don't know if that's different than an AIW, but...

i have an all in wonder 9600 XT and it performs just as well if not better than the radeon 9600 XT, even when my friend has his oc'd, so don't tell me or anyone that its not made for gaming. also two of my friends have aiw 9800 pros, and they kick my aiw's butt, and play games like a dream. but, if he is having problems with the plain 9600, not the xt or pro, he should turn down the options within halo, perhaps even turn off vsync. My friend has a mobile 9600 in his laptop, and it does ok, at medium settings, and i am assuming that the mobile and regular 9600 are close to equivalent
