Both are absolutely brilliant, but for totally different reasons. The first one (already now considered an established classic) had a simply amazing campaign mode, but unless you had enough cash to shell out on several LAN cables, a router, and had at least 4 friends with thier own Xbox's & portable TVs + an additional 4 or more friends willing to join in, multiplayer beyond campaign co-op was a tad flat. In Halo2 however, any monkey with Xbox live can enjoy non-stop multiplayer magic, with great arenas and games somehow managing to be both a tactical AND a frantic experience. The Halo2 campaign however was, well, a tad flat. (A shame really - the first couple of levels are quite enjoyable.)
