First class - it even says it on the product information page.

Yeh i saw that after I posted....it just confused me cause you would think the more expensive delivery would be the fastest

  • 07.18.2004 6:14 AM PDT

It's guaranteed next day, the most expensive option. First class you only have a 90% chance of receiving the next day. That's why you sometimes receive the games earlier - Gameplay have to factor in the fact that first class may get there in two days.

The Limited Edition if now available for pre-order at Amazon.co.uk. It's definatetly worth the extra £5. So, now a large, mainstream online retailer has the LE for pre-order. Just thought I'd let you know.

Yeah, well I got three day shipping, so I won't get my game until the 12! You people from Europe should consider yourself so lucky... lol. I'd watch out for those Canadians... they're the ones that always spoil the stories... Just kidding.

Another good place for games over here, partically if you want to save a couple of quid is play.com
I gotta love them for the fact there in the Channel Islands and well, urmm no vat mwhahaha. The things you do to get your games without Mr Inland Revenue after you ;) That and they do free delivery, but the problem there is you always get it first class, so time wise its pretty random :( Damn good company though.

It's good to see that Bungie does care about us UK fans.

I think it is actually Atari's fault that we UK Halo fans have to wait the extra 2 days. After Driv3r mysteriously found it's way on to shop shelves almost two weeks early, but I think that was approved by Atari who wanted to get the game into gamers hands before they had a chance to read any reviews. Sneaky tactics.

This HBO article explains the delay pretty well: http://halo.bungie.org/oldnews.html?item=9955

I'd like to see GAME's website updated, they still have the game listed as the 9th of November and have absolutely no details on the Special Edition. Is there any chance of someone at Bungie having a word with our major retailers over here and making sure they have all the details in order.

I know an independant store that sells games as soon as they arrive, and with most title's that's either the Wednesday or the Thursday before the official release on the Friday. It's also worth noting that the 11th of November is a Thursday, not a Friday, which tells me that Microsoft has given all stores permission to sell Halo 2 as soon as they get it in stock. Why have the release date on the 11th and not Friday the 12th?

You will not get Halo 2 a week early. If you believe that then you're going to be disappointed.

Well man, I PM'd SketchFactor about this and here's what he said back to me......

I'm not sure what to you tell you at the moment Jay.... I know a ton of online retailers are offering the Limited Edition, but you said that's not an option for you. Do you have stores like EB Games or Gamestop over there? Have you tried asking any actual game stores? Point them to the EB Games website if they don't know what you're talking about. I imagine that most large scale mass market stores probably won't know what you're talking about but specialty game stores should. Unfortunately I don't have a magic list or anything. If I can dig something up I'll let you know though!

PS, Virgin Megastores will now take pre-orders for the Limited Edition, and so will GAME next month. ;)

Why can't you pre-order from an Internet retailer? If it's about needing a credit card/debit card/cheque, Gameplay also take cash, postal orders, and can also send you a card so that you can pay at any Post Office.

Didn't know that man, cheers. But I prefer shops because if something is faulty, you can have it replaced or get your money back on the day you got it.

Infact, Brits dont have to stay clear of the net for 2 days, they could get level strategies for multiplayer, and whop their friends @$$'s the 11th....

Shops are bound to run out of stock more quickly though. And there's the chance of getting Halo 2 slightly early.

Absolutely true and correct, but I don't mind a little wait and the money thing is what does it for me. If it breaks when purchased from a website, you're screwed generally (unless you then go get it from a shop, which as you said, will have sold out!).

And rental for a couple of days doesn't count as a comeback! :P

You're not really screwed. The e-tailer would just replace it. And probably pay for postage too. But I've ordered a fair few games online, and have never had a broken disc.

But how quickly would they replace it? To be honest, another few days wait isn't that bad I know, but it would still be like a punch in the gut if it did break. Now just because I've said all this doesn't mean I'm never going to ever use the net to buy games and/or stuff generally, I'm just not going to risk Halo 2. I've reserved the Limited Edition in 3 different places now, and just the normal Xbox-box version in about 10. It just means an early start on the morning of the 11th, which is obviously planned anyway! Cheers for the other stuff though man, didn't know you didn't need a credit card to buy online!

Well GAME have updated their site and now have Halo 2 with a release date of November 11th, instead of the 9th, but still no details about the Limited/Special edition. At least it's a step in the the right direction. Also good to hear from Microsoft about a Price of £45, I know that's what we all expected but it's still nice to have some clarification.

I too would much rather buy the game in a shop/store than online. It's a great experience, the anticipation the suspense, the journey home which is the only time that I really get to read the instruction manual, it all adds together and builds up to make the actual moment when you put the disc in the console that much more special.

When you buy something online, it arrives at your door and the Xbox is right beside you. Sure the excitement levels are high but it's too short lived.

I can't be the only person who enjoys this aspect of buying a game.

Absolutely. I love this aspect of game-buyage!! I remember reading Halo's manual on the way home in the car way back and thinking, "looks alright this!".

Although, I don't think I'll be opening Halo 2 in the car! I'm waiting until I get home for this one.
