ok a trick that is dirty and not like all this nonsense.... This trick is useful to spawn camp.
I like to call this trick unlimited ammo it is in effect 'unlimited' but takes time to work... let me explain
take the rocket launcher for example
make sure u have all 4 rockets that comes with first picking up the rockets
after firing the first 2 rockets (without reloading at all with the rockets) immeadiately press y to switch weapons
IMPORTANT: make sure AS soon as you shoot the second rocket you press y otherwise this trick will not work.
then hover over a weapon that you can pick up
press y again to switch back to rockets and WITH NO DELAY press x to drop the rockets and pick up the weapon on the ground
you should hear the sound of a rocket launcher reloading and if you had someone in front of u looking at u you could see from their screen that you look like you are reloading a weapon even thugh u are not.
wait about 5-7 seconds after dropping hte rocket to pick them back up
and Voila! u have all 4 rockets back
so after shooting 2 rockets u still have all 4 rockets u started with
pretty cool huh
this works with ALL the other guns too (except plasma pistol and plasma rifle)
so it is useful for that sniper rifle that always seems to run out of ammo too quickly
ok now you know the trick, how useful is it?when should you use it?
There is no question it is useful the only this is that it takes several seconds to do and when you have a rocket launcher sitting on the ground out in the open all it takes is an enemy to swoop up on the rockets and make ur day living hell. So I suggest if using this trick do it somewhere hidden where you or the rocket launcher cant be seen this will allow u to live a long time and kil a lot of ppl.
well this is to your own disgression
usually i like to ONLY use this trick on XBC when i join games, Never on my own host and DEFINITELY NOT ON a XBOX LAN game
Its a sign of respect not to cheat like that
But remember i only told you so
so if you would like to get romped on in XBC
hit me up
MASKANDROBEM
because this trick wont help u much when i snipe u with no zoom across the map in the forehead :-)

-This is to add to the Blood Gulch "Sniper Hill Tank" base camping tricks. Get a buddy, because it takes two to pull this off: I take a tank up to the top of sniper hill, behind the Red base. I put the tank just inbetween the two rocks, facing the back wall, and then rotate the main cannon around so as to prevent me from being sniped. My teammate can then hide fairly well behind either of the rocks. The teammate acts as a "scout" and sights long distance with the sniper rifle. I just look to see where the enemies are on my teammates' screen, and blast the crap out of the Blue Base. Nothing worse than being blown up by a tank that you can barely see.

-On games where players from different teams are both on the same TV, I cheat off their screen like a dirty screen-cheater. in fact, I've been known to cheat off of the reflection in their glasses, too.

-On sidewinder, you can use a ghost or other vehicle to teleport you through the bars in the middle section where the overshield and invisibility appear. Park the ghost on one side, and you can get into it from the other. Great for getting away quickly with the flag.

-On several levels, there are areas where you can duck and move a little bit farther beneath a slight overhang. Then you don't need to hold the duck button anymore, and it gives you a very slight advantage.

-On blood gulch, always be the blue team. you can duck in the water and it is hard to see you, especially when you duck behind the invisibility. Leave the Invis. there, and blast the snot out of anyone who comes to get it. Also, you can jump through the Red base's windows, making for a quick exit with the flag.

-If someone is trying to run me over with a Ghost, I stand just on the other side of a hill from them. As they come over the hill, I can duck and they'll go right over my head. Then I just move back to the other side of the hill and repeat. Shooting them while doing this will, eventually, kill them, plus, they rarely shoot you due to the angle with which they have to climb the hill every time.

-I'll wait for one of my lesser teammates to pull an "Enemy at the Gates" move - sticking their head out and getting sniped so that I can see where the enemy sniper is. If the teammate is lucky, the enemy sniper is no good and only pops the shields. If the teammate is unlucky, oh well, at least the enemy is dead and I still have my rifle...

-On Sidewinder, just stand behind the base teleporter exit for either base. Kill whoever comes out. I prefer the shotgun, but there are also rockets nearby.

-On Sidewinder, I'll hide in the enemy base on one of the ladders that leads to the sniper rifle. Then I just shotgun anyone who comes up. Switch ladders frquently to add confusion.

That's all that I can think of for now, but I'm sure that there's more.

In sidewinder if you take a gost to the oversheild.........Oh yeh 15 people said that earlier! Here'a something a little more usefull. In medium range levels like hang em high you can get 3 shot kills from across the entire level with your pistol. What those who are wasting you have failed to inform you about is that instead of aiming for the head just touch the tip of the circle to the top of an enemy's head so that it turns red. If they are running put it at a 45 degree angle off their head and touch the tip again. Since the pistol uses real physics gravity pulls the bullet down over long distances and you have to lead the enemy. While up close you seem to get the most headshots keeping your curser half on half off the enemies head. With the sniper rifle if you see an enemy running place your cursor ahead of them at head level and as soon as their head touches the tip pull the trigger. I you are getting shot by a sniper zig zag unpredictably to really piss them off. In ctf in battle creek if you duck on the structure above the flag you pick it up without touching it. In hang em high you can return the flag without going up the ramp of death and pulling a train. On one base you can use the duck jump technique to jump on a pillar or the top of the hallway. On the other side while you are half way up the ramp you can have a teamate stand still and jump off their head. In damnation a great trick to do is get the flag from the bottom base go through the portal, stop and melee in the back and continue on. If you are having this done to you walk backwards through the portal to outcon the conman. All the tricks in this forum so far are fair except for the modded boxes. The only other tricks that I don't think are fair are bringing a laptop to tournaments. Players time how long it takes for powerups and guns to appear so they can get them first. Even worse teams will time and stand on oversheild or cammo and if they are all touching part of it when it comes up and they all have it. Have fun this game is a blast. If you spend all your time on bg and sw, try changing it up you will have have a blast with damnation and hang em high. They are so much fun.

Earlier I said you can duck on the structure above the flag in battle creek to get it. If you walk the right direction slowly over it you don't even need to duck. You can also return the flag this way. After you get cammo if you fire a burst of your machine gun you will go invisible a little faster. I tried the melee to the front of the right shin and I can't get it to work. I think they may be talking about the right side. If you melee someone from the right side it is an instant kill but it doesn't work on the left side. If you throw grenades while invisible you can't be seen. If you get so many kills in ctf it doesn't give you double kills, can anyone tell me how many. It seems to depend on different variables.

Here's a nice trick that you can do if you're pinned down by a bunch of enimies. For example, if you're playing sidewinder CTF, and you cant get in your opponent's base, just stand arround the corner and chuck a plasma grenade at the health pack. Then move your target just a tiny bit closer to your opponent's position in refrence to the first grenade. Then chuck another one. If you timed it right, the blast from the first grenade will knock the second grenade toward your enimies! Essentially, you're throwing a grenade arround a corner. The trick is to thow the second one before the first one blows. If the second one hits the ground before the first one blows, it won't work. You can also adjust distance by placing the second grenade further or closer to the first grenade. You can also adjust the angle/dirrection by placing the grenade a little to the right or left of the first one.

In refrence to a previous post about how to get a ghost over the wall on sidewinder, here's how. Grab a tank and put it on blue base's sniper ledge (the ledge you get to when you go through the portal). Put it facing out in the little alcove right outside the portal room that connects the two sniper ledges. Back it against the wall and then get a ghost and drive it straight at the tank. A few feet before you hit the tank you need to hold A to get the ghost to bring up the front. If you timed it right, you'll sail right up over the wall.

Some more ghost tricks: On BG, behind the blue base, there's a little hill with what looks like a path down from the back wall. If you get on a ghost and drive it down the path towards the hill and hold A right before you hit the hill, you can make it on top of the base. From there you can mow down any surprised enimies. To take it further, you can position the ghost so that the back end is inside the base, then get out. If you're lucky, the ghost will be hanging from the top, as you grab the flag. Then just go to the ghost, crouch-jump and hit X and you'll be out of the base in less than a few seconds, leaving base campers with nothing to shoot at.

You can also use a tank to make it easier. This trick'll work on both BG and Sidewinder. Just back a tank up to the enimie's base and then fly the ghost at the tank and hit A before you hit the tank. (you dont need to use A in BG, just watch out for the shield thingys) If you time it right, you'll fly into the base with a handy escape ghost.

good tricks

I got one of my own ...... if u have the flag and a hidden power wepon (Rocket lancher) don't be scared to throw the flag and target your enemys they will scamper for the flag and try to not to notice you shoot the flag to get it out of reach and then send your dead foes in the air.

Frog, I think the reason they didn,t post your tricks is because they suck. So far every trick i've read is old and stupid. those who went ohhhh and ahhhhhhhh after reading these so called " dirty tricks" suck at Halo. If you didn,t know some of these tricks you suck at Halo. None of these tricks would stand a chance in a true Halo battle. If any of these tricks ever worked in any of you multi player games then you all suck. Any truly skilled Halo player would agree with me. I can't wait till Halo 2 comes out so I can slaughter all these rookie wanna be Halo players. With that out of the way I'll give you some real Halo advice.

Listen up. There's no real trick to Halo it's all about SKILL. The way you shoot, which weapon to get , who to go after, who to avoid and what strategy is good for what stage. Overall is all about your reflexes sight and the way you handle that pretty little thing they call a weapon. If you want more specific advice on a certain thing feel free to ask. I,m sure I can help you out.

YES thank you Golden God finally someone understands that sniping isnt a cheap way of gettin kills, and that it takes practice.

  • 04.27.2004 3:47 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

hey gimp i didnt consider my "trick" dirty at all.it wasnt even a trick.look for mine on the first page.its just a way to kill campers or pesky snipers.and i dont suck at Halo.im good at sniping or close combat.ive played it nearly every day since it came out.

  • 04.27.2004 3:51 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

and i totally agree with you.thers no true "tricks" its just a measure of skill, and a difference in people's tactics.different people use different ways to win, some cheaper than others.

There is a very high spot in the Blood Gulch... it is in the right side of the blue base...
crab a sniper and some useful close combat weapon (like shotgun) and go up the hill where u can see both red and blue bases... when u snipe your friend u just wait him/her to respawn
an kill him/her again... when u run out of snipers ammo u just walk downhill with shotgun etc.
(this "trick" works best with no shields mode)
p.s I think your friend will say "where the hell are u !!!"

CTF Blood Gulch, Teams.......surround portals (not blocking) with vehicles (preferably Warthogs). stand guard with a grenade launcher.when they come through the portal, shoot.they might try and get away on a vehicle, but they wont get far.

obviously, dont surround portal with a scorpion. and have your teamates watch your back while u do this.

i am sick of people complaining about screen looking, i try my damn hardest not to look at other screens but somtimes it just happens. Then they start with the nagging- WHY U LOOKINGA T MY SCREEN FOR - CAN'T YOU BEAT ME WITHOUT IT.A sO THEN I JUST GRAB MY REMOTE(GRADIUS) and head for another t.v were i continue to -blam!- them and slaughter their hopes.

Screen looking is not dirty they can see ur screen too they have every advantage you have, screen looking is just another exuse for sucking.

DA GIMP: Though I do agree that many of the tricks on this forum are repetitive and cliched, I think your rather quick and angry dismissal of them is not only childish but ignorant. I've read them all and I found four or five that I feel will help me win easier. You talk like your the best in the world when, chances are, you're probably the best out of your circle of 6 or 7 friends. I think I can speak for most everybody when I say the only thing that is worse than a lame trick is a lame boast. Stop talking.

Nobody has brought up throwing flags through the walls (in Chiron, Longest, etc.) and using teammates as stepping stools was only mentioned once, yet these are some of the dirtiest tricks I've ever personally encountered. Another trick: my neighbor likes to tank camp in the MIDDLE of BG on the big hill closest to the blue teleporter. That is so annoying, but hardly dirty. Well, read, learn and OWN!

P.S. Billy: The double melee works only on your screen as a visual glitch. It does not actually throw two punches.

For all u people out there that are afraid of screen hoppers..Dont be it just takes them more time to look on yours so it is actuly easier to kill them because they are so worried about where you are. I mean when i first started playing halo thats what i did and i died every time i just consider it a distraction.

Question for SuperFlious. What all levels can you throw a flag through the wall at? Which walls in the levels can you throw through? Also, I think you need to try the double melee again, it takes double the damage of a single melee.

Metal: Well, I figured out the double melee when I was a relative newb, (I just mashed a bunch of buttons like I was playing Street Fighter II and it happened), so when I tried to utilize it shortly thereafter I wasn't too skilled. I haven't tried it since, so I guess I could be wrong on that.

For the wall throws: you can toss the flag through just about any thin walls, walls with slits or murder holes and two story floors (I've only got it to work going up a story). Example: on Chiron, in the red base you can toss it through the floor to a teammate on the top story waiting by a portal or through the wall by the bottom story portals. You can also throw it through any wall in the maze room, and you can toss it up high ramps and ledges, but that's obvious. Remember that you must have a teammate waiting on the other side to catch it or else it will merely bounce back. These are just some examples on one level. There are plenty in just about every level. Try the bases on Blood Gulch, and look for them all over Chill Out/Damnation. Communication and patience are really the key. This is a great trick, but if you over use it, the effectiveness will get played out really quickly. Use sparingly, and OWN!

A favorite trick of mine is to use green thumb controls. The melee attack on the analog button works wonders in close quarters fighting. You can also throw a grenade at the instant your Master Chief kisses the blunt end of a weapon off some poor bastards face, if you really want to hurt somebody.

Yea the green thumb works great but if you REALLY want to max out your melee power then there is a style called...BOXER..I mean why else would they call it that? Believe me, my brother uses it and he gets all his kills by fisting and slamming, try it out. OH yea another thing about the melee attacking, try the double melee it works great, especially if you master it, and since melee hits do EXTRA damage at a falling rate the double melee practically kills a sparten,(leaves them in low yellow most of the time). Yea and another thing guys Halo is won by skill, even if it is with tricks, cause it's still skill on how well you use the tricks right? PEACE
