With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Some how I doubt that the "less intelligible" members will learn anything...

Not at all. Game nerds will someday rule the world - if they don't already.

I myself am 17 years old. Now to get a little off topic. A federal court issued a ruling last week in Washington stating that telling someone they cannot buy a video game based on the content is unconstitutional and against every Americans freedom of speech. The ESRB rating system is something many large retailers require before they put a game on store shelves. It costs the developer or publisher money to get this rating. It is not mandatory but acts as a guide to help parents choose which games are right for their children. The whole idea of movie and video game ratings in my opinion is to take responsibility off of the parents and put it on the stores.

ah -blam!- that. thats just dumb. they try to link Columbine and school shootings to violent video games. i need to ask a question: why do 16-17 year old kids have access to M16A2 assault rifles and 12 gauge tactical shotguns? it seems that the dumbass politicians "conveniently" overlooked that.

Sweet sixteen, with pimples.

I'm very intelligent for my age. I do crosswords.

I also read a lot (of Halo novels).

Right on, I just saw Bowling For Columbine, Micheal Moore's Oscar winning documentary film on guns in America.

It's all the National Rifle Association's fault.

Their analogy is that guns are good, because we can use them to protect ourselves.

But people aren't supposed to protect themselves with submachine guns.

I don't think we are supposed to discuss politics on this forum, so I'll shut up now.

You're welcome. This thread took off far faster and further than I had expected. I'm clearly not in this boat alone. For the most part I've been pleasantly surprised by the number of literate and articulate individuals posting here. A "thank you" goes out to all of you who've forced me to become slightly less jaded. However, interwoven is the drivel that actually makes me shake my head in disgust and disbelief.

Also with regards to a much earlier string of posts, while age alone may not claim immaturity and lack of consideration for other's necks (see above), it does appear to be the largest contributing factor. Not that I'm surprised by this really, but the chances are that the younger the writer/typer the more I'm going to need a chiropractor. This isn't to say of course that all kids are stupid. A moderator earlier mentioned he/she was 15, and his/her post was coherent. Every rule has an exception, so don't take the generalization personal, please.

Hopefully the less intelligible members of this forum will learn something from this thread.

I'm afraid the unfortunate reality of ignorance is that it inhibits one from realizing they're ignorant. (Same goes for maturity as discussed earlier).

Yan Yin,

First off, your accusations and comments are groundless. Secondly, this isn't the place for your typographical diarrhea.

Thanks,
the_Ender

P.S. I almost forgot to tell you that I live in Littleton, CO, and I have friends who experienced that day first hand so I'd recommend stifling any further conjecture on your part lest you embarrass yourself further. Thanks again.

You know whats funny? I just figured out that the guy who started this thread said something along the lines of "Might as well be translated as wort wort wort". Whats funny is that isnt translated correctly, its trow trow trow. Man, I should be beating myself over the head with a nuke for this one.

Time for intellectual conversation ? I would have to say that John 117 and the rest of the cybernetically enhanced spartans are a highly trained group of inexorable combatants stopping at nothing to complete a set goal.
I do read a lot of mindless drivel on these forums, but not as much as on the xbox.com forums. Of course they have paid staff to keep it clean all day though. We have volunteers here and they do a good job. You see how I've used color patterns to highlight the somewhat different words, the ones you don't see here too often. Words with intelligence .

I do indeed see the red and green. However, aside from the fancy coloration I'd say the only thing that sets those words apart from the others is their syllable count. Don't be so naive as to think that a long word yields an intelligent thought.

Big words don't make you intelligent; just like a big gun doesn't make you a marksman.

who cares how old you are, it dosn't make you inferior to any other person. And thats the great thing about video games not only do they blur the line between reality and fantasy or fiction but the line is blured for everyone. Also I am 13 and proud of it.

I'm 19 and a long time ago I used to think that by the time I was this age I wouldn't like those things like video games and cartoons, but I still do, and my obsession doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, so I'm happy. But it's been a long, hard road between having to hide my Xbox in my closet from my dad (it suffocated...poor baby) and then trying to have a good time with my friends when they don't want to do what I want to do (paint my nails or play Halo? Tough one.), except, of course, for my best friend who loves games as much as I do, even though all the guys kick our asses at Halo. It's an addiction, hopefully, for life.

Oh yeah, and I heard that surgeons who play video games are 33% more likely to have a successful operation than those who don't.

"It looks like we'll have to operate."
"Well, doc, could ya do me a favor and play Halo for these next few weeks?"

How cool is that?

Well you got my support anyway... and I knocked back another guy with a similar note yesterday and got a formal PM apology ;-D

Does anyone else think it's hysterical the way the kids talk all big and bad? It seems the anonymity of the forums affords them the opportunity to be as belligerent as they want.

News Flash for the kiddies: The only thing that impresses anyone in the forums is a sound and well articulated comment. The cyber bravado and machismo exhibited by many a 13-17 year old is pathetic at best.

GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE!!! STUPID PEOPLE WHO OWN GUNS, POINT THEM AT A PERSON, AND PULL THE TRIGGER. . .THAT'S WHAT KILLS PEOPLE. I own several guns, but I woudn't dream of ever using it on another living person. There's always an alternative, if you're gonna try and pull the "self-defense" crap on me. Trust me, I got some basic training from an ex-marine. It all boils down to the parents. The fact of the matter is, they should be more involved in their children's life. However, when they try to get involved and their kid blows up in their face, they just leave it alone and never bring said topic up ever again. Buying video games, owning guns, etc. Parents NEVER bring it up because it has too many conflicts with their kids. WHY DO WE HAVE SO MANY STUPID PARENTS!?

Ok, I realize I'm generalizing here. Not ALL parents are this stupid. But, I can't count the number of times I have been in a game store, seen a kid bring a game up to their parent, and ask to buy it. When the parent says "No", the kid throws a temper tantrum in the MIDDLE of the store. The parent then agrees, and the kid wins. And this isn't 7 year old kids here. These are 10-14 year olds I've seen do it. Why do we have to have stupid people in this world?
