I spoke too soon. The fools have rejoined the conversation. (Much to my dismay). Shall I attribute it to apathy or lethary. Likely the latter. I don't even know where to begin dismantling the latest asinine comments. Perhaps I should have ignored it all together.

'Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

Yes, I was just thinking the same thing. It's such a shame that you finish a discussion on something only to have someone interject at the last minute and ruin it.

Nice quote ;-)

im 14, and when I played Return to Castle Wolfenstein (the newer one) I was in a clan called ARMX. They are still considered one of the best clans along with 6 or 7 others, but the two very best guys were 54 and 50.

I do not care how amazing you are at a video game. That isn't the point of this thread. So, please stow it! I know you're proud of your gaming accomplishments. Put it on your resume` or something. I don't want to hear about it here. I don't care if you're 27 (Did you accidentally hit the 2 instead of the 1 key?) and can beat up some kids at a video game. Or if you're a kid claiming that you're better than a creator of a game you've never even played. Brag and boast elsewhere.

I agree. You people are completely missing the point of this thread (no offense).

The thread is about literacy, not game expertise. Although age does not matter in either, I still urge you to read at least some of the on-topic threads that have been posted.

20 now, 21 in september. I tend to type like I speak, short and to the point with some Texan slang interjected now and then. EX "Y'all"

I have had the unfortunate happenstance of being Deaf and the age when everybody learns the beginings of speech (around 2 YoA) and it has effected me to this day to the point of having a hard time spelling and pronouncing. Now I won't go into the comeplete explaination but lets just say that its sort of like being Dyslexic but with sounds of letters and such and the Texas public school system hasn't helped either. ;)

Apart from all that I consider myself to be very intelligent(130 IQ isn't shoddy) and I try to reflect that in my posts but I do allow myself the lattatude of acting stupid at times to laugh at myself, which we all should so as not to become too jaded.

BTW: all that 'g33k sp3@k' is very confusing!

I would wager that when asked, 90% of the people in these forums would claim to be at least "intelligent" and many would claim "very intelligent." So, I'd say most of those people could be considered delusional. I've already said it but I'll repeat it. "The unfortunate irony of being an imbecile is that one is too imbecilic to realize it."

But only about 10% actually have it. That is the deference. I just don't take it too seriously. For example read my sigs. All but the last are 'toung-in-cheek', the last being a real challenge.

Im 14. Who gives a damn about age and how people spell? People do on the internet on purpose alot.

Speaking of IQ (in reply to Duke's post), are IQ tests really worth taking? Do they really show accurate intelligence? Or are they just piece-of-crap tests that people shouldn't take all that seriously?

I have a growing suspicion that if I take an IQ test, I'll do horrible...

(sorry, I'm off-topic again... )

What? This is exactly why people care about spelling and grammar. If you can't execute those two correctly, your intended message becomes jarbled (is that word?) and nonsensical. And no one will want to read it, resulting in a big waste of the reader's --and the writer's-- time.

I agree, you shoudn't out tto much weight in IQ tests. There is I think 7 (7!?) different intelligences (sp?). Most IQ tests only test 1 or 2 of those intelligences. (Logical and another I think)

Wow...
Now, I'm 16 but I just couldn't be bothered to read all the replies to this thread, so i'll just jump straight into this conversation about IQ. IQ doesnt say much, but it does help and can still be used t test new employees for a company or something. But no, it doesnt test all intelligences.
And to tell the truth, I'm absolutely positive that there shouldnt be any tolderence for l337 SP33K and all that stuff, its a load of bollocks and confuses people who speak corerectly. Though i dont mind abreviations, changing letters is no good.
I'm not a stanaic enforcer of good spelling, simply because i also make mistakes. The only reason i think its a good idea to spell correctly here is that i want to abide by bungie rules on this forum and they say: no abbreviations, no leetspeek and all that, especially not newbie. The most broken rule on the forums that one.
So i think:
Just be sensible!

Just a suggestion, but from now on, if you are going to just state your age, simply use the poll. Don't post that you are whatever age. That's not completely the point of this thread, so saying only your age (or your age with unrelated text after it) counts as semi-spam.

Alright... I'll say it again, but a little differently.

People, I strongly suggest that you fully read at least the first and last pages of this thread. Simply stating what age you are, or what age others are, or including something that is irrelevent to the point of this thread (which is age AND literacy!) is meaningless, and no one really cares (no offense). If you want to answer the poll question, simply use the poll, and remain annonymous.

Most people are either 14 or 15.

Most people? Was there a virus that wiped out all of the "old" people (over 18)? Or maybe there was a baby-boom of unheard of proportions that had all women of child-bearing age getting pregnant 15-16 years ago....

Hang on, I think that we're onto something! Bungie was founded in 1991, right? Now I know that was only 13 years ago, but when you are making theories like this, facts are secondary.

Maybe, just MAYBE, the Bungie-adored phrase of "Your Mom!" is because Bungie secretly impregnated all fertile women as a lead in to their plans for world domination.... You see, if they did, "Your Mom!" would mean "I really AM your daddy*" Of course, they would have needed to beat a whole bunch of dogs over the fence. But if you can't draft an army, BREED one!

So all of these 14 and 15 year olds (that most people are) are actually the fruit of over-active Bungie loins! Like the "Boys From Brazil", but they're all little Jason Jones'. *shudder* Now THAT is scary!

I think that I forgot to take my medicine today.

Thats a scary thought. Very unlikely to be true... but with Bungie, you never know, hmmm?
