Vive la canadienne!

This is a copy of the script for the machinima that i am working on, so it contains information that refer to camera directions, and special effects. I have included these so the reader has a better sense of whats going on in my head, as it might be a little hard for you to get in there.

Oh, and just a reminder, this is a work in progress so any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Act One, Scene One.

Main Control Room for the “Truth and Reconciliation”.

Room is full of marines, and ODST soldiers running around, and sitting at terminals. In the centre of the room stands an ODST in full battle armour, Major Silva. The room is similar in design as the Control Room in Truth and Reconciliation (Level)in Halo: Combat Evolved.

*Room shakes*

Murmurs in background of marines talking amongst each other.

Silva (authoritative): Report

Marine (Slightly calm): Rear Stabilizers and Engines have taken heavy damage, (A little worried) I don’t know if were going to make it.

Silva: Duly noted, but I didn’t ask for your opinion, now stow the belly aching and let’s get the hell out of here.

Cuts to Brig

Brig is a small area with several cells for prisoners on two sides, and a control panel at the end of the room. Similar to the one in Truth and Reconciliation (Level) in Halo: Combat Evolved. There are two people visible at the current time. A marine in full ODST battle armour, and a marine in crouching in a cell.

McKay (looks to Jenkins, and then away): I don’t know what he’s thinking; he’s going to kill us all.

Jenkins: *without speaking looks to the power coil on the wall and back towards McKay*

McKay: *in silent understanding moves over to a near by dead elite bends over and picks up an energy sword. She walks over to the energy coil and slices it.*

*small explosion in the brig*

Jenkins (voice distorted, and crackling, still in his cell): Thank you.

Cuts quickly to Control Room

Marine (shouts): Sir we’ve just lost engines!

Marine [other side of the room] (shouts): We’re losing altitude!

Silva (authoritative, on the edge of losing control/panic): Make an immediate slip space jump to the following coordinates…

*Blinding flash covers the screen, eventually becoming white, and slowly fading to black.*

Silva (continuing, while still in white screen) *As screen slowly fades to black, Silva’s voice goes down in volume, and the volume of an annoying tone rises. Tone to be similar to that in which is used in games/movies for shell shock*: 5h52m0s (Right ascension), 07° 24' (Declination).

Vive la canadienne!

Act One, Scene Two

Words appear on black screen

January 27, 2518.

UNSC Training Facility B,

Undisclosed Exact Location in Africa, Earth.

Fades into “The Pit” (level), words still present on the screen, but slowly fade out as camera starts to navigate the level, eventually ending at the sword room.

*As camera moves through the level ODST in full battle dress, are running around trying to capture an enemies flag. A single marine with the Red flag is running but is gunned down by an ambush.*

*As camera moves through The Pit the Drill Sergeant is lecturing the ODST Trainees.*

In sword room there are 8 ODST in standard training gear. A single ODST, full battle armour stands in the front of the 8 ODST.

Drill Sergeant (in stereotypical Drill Sergeant tone): Welcome to UNSC Training Facility B, building who gives a -blam!-.
My job is to make those of you who are -blam!- drop out, and cry to your mommies. For those of you hard enough to take me, then I’m just willing to bet your going to survive this.
For those of you who are too dumb to know who I am I would like you to step forward.

*no-one moves*

Mhm, I thought so.
So seen as we’ve gotten through the introductions, lets go for a nice run with full equipment.
Isn’t that a great idea?

All ODST in the room (yell): Yes, drill sergeant.

Trainees file out of room and camera cut to the flag spawn point. Flags (and marks for flags) and competitive ODST’s are no longer there, and instead have been replaced by locker with bags in front of them and weapons in individual piles in front of each locker.

*Trainees move through out the room grabbing the weapons they like/prefer.*

Drill Sergeant: Alright ladies, that’s enough. Let’s get moving.

Camera cuts to “Running Course”. Course is to be mostly clear Valhalla, special areas for weapons, vehicles, etc. Course to be starting at “Lake Side” (pair of warthogs in view with ODST Drivers standing near by), and go up the clear side of the map (opposite side of Valhalla) and will continue towards opposite base.

Drill Sergeant: Alright ladies lets get a move on.

*Drill Sergeant leads Trainees away from base and on preset route. As soon as troops disappear, the ODST’s guarding the “Hogs” are dropped by separate sniper shots. [Editors note, if possible edit out a the sound and replace with a silenced shot (possibly used in another movie/game)]*

As soon as the troops get onto the plateau (area where mongoose normally is) several mongooses drive by (drivers and passengers) the Drill Sergeant ignores them completely, but the some of the Trainees watch them drive by. The plateau is barren except for a small pile of debris (possible crates) in two areas.

Silvia (whispers to trainee ahead of him): That’s not right; this is a running track only.

ODST Trainee (whispers back): Dude, shut up your going to get us in -blam!-.

Drill Sergeant (without turning to see who it is): Quiet back there!

*A pair of grenades fly through the air and land near the group and a Trainee collapses, unconscious on the ground*

ODST Trainee (shouts): Jesus f’ing Christ, Ambush!!!!

Several “rebels” come over the ridge in the middle of the map. There is a sniper on the crest of the ridge, and 6 “rebels” flanking from the two sides (3 from each). In a second hail of bullets another group of Trainees drop. There are now 5 remaining, and the Drill Sergeant is nowhere to be found.

The 4 remaining Trainees (Silvia, and 3 unnamed others) flee and regroup behind some debris. The remaining Trainee hides behind second set of crates and takes post shots at the flanking “Rebels”

Silvia (clicks mike (tone is played) and says over the team frequency): We need to take out that sniper! You (points at trainee) run over to that second set of crates, we will engage the sniper and take him out.

*Trainee hesitates*

(With exasperation) Now before the rest of them get here!

*Trainee bolts for the pile of crates, and other ODST Trainee*

Camera cuts to over the shoulder of sniper, and we watch as he shifts slightly to positions the shot and a hail of bullets fly over his shoulder, and a couple make contact with him.

*Trainee makes it to the other side and aids the other Trainee in taking out the “Rebels”*

*Sniper flees*

Camera cuts to group of Trainees so that we can see the other group of ODST, only they aren’t in position any longer. The trainee that ran over to the other side is lying face down in the dirt and his partner is crouching over him.

Trainee: Well that one of them, where are the other 3?

Camera rotates so that we see 3 sets of legs, and then the screen blacks out with 3 sickening crunches.

Vive la canadienne!

Act One, Scene Three

Sound of fabric bag being pulled away and screen becomes bright, and foggy, but slowly comes into focus.

*Silva slowly looks around*

The room is small, and bare except for a pair of tables, a large hole in the wall, and a couple lockers (High Ground computer room [spec configuration])

Camera zooms out of First Person, Silva is crouched near the back of the room

*Foot steps approaching from behind, but Silva can’t turn around. The foot steps stop and a man comes out of one of one of the door ways.*

“Rebel Leader”: I must give you credit, you wounded our sniper, and gave some of our troops a run for their money, but fortunately, they aren’t gambling men.

Now, who are you, rank, name, the works.

Silva: *stays silent, and looks down*

“Rebel Leader”: Oh, so you want to play a game, eh? Well, lets put it this way son, you can comply or I kill one or two of your buddies for every answer I don’t get. Capeesh?

Silva: *remains silent, does not even acknowledge the “Rebel Leader”*

“Rebel Leader”: Very well, bring in the prisoner.

Silva: *raises head slightly, but lowers it quickly*

Trainee is walked in by two “Rebels” wielding BRs, and is forced to crouch with a “Rebel” at each shoulder.

“Rebel Leader”: So, are you still going to be a hard ass or are you going to answer me?

Silva: *looks up into the “Rebel Leaders” face and spits, and looks*

“Rebel Leader”: *Furious, punches Silva in the head (whose head drops), and walks over to the Trainee* Lift up that ones (Silva) head; I want him to watch this.

*“Rebel” moves hand behind head and forces up. This is to be done by placing weapon into Silva’s head and Silva and “Rebel” look up together*

“Rebel Leader”: This is what your actions have earned. *Shoots Trainee in the head* Now, are you going to tell me what I want, or do I need to bring more of your Comrades in here?

Silva (seems to spit out words): -blam!- you.

“Rebel Leader”: Very Well *motions for the remaining ODST Trainees to enter the room. Each Trainee crouches, and at each end, and one behind the middle Trainee is a “Rebel”*

*Each of the Trainees looks around and eventually sees the body of the Trainee on the floor. One looks from the body to Silva and back again. The two other Trainees look around nervously, and eventually look at the “Rebel Leader”*

“Rebel Leader”: So, *walks away from the body of the “dead” Trainee and kneels in front of Silva* are you going to tell me or not?

Silva: *Raises head back slightly as if in apprehension, lets out a sigh, and lowers his head*I am Lance Corporal Antonio Silva of the United Nations Space Command. Serial Number: 01853-58392-49320-48033.

Overseer *Voice from outside the room*: That’s enough Corporal, at ease.
Silva and Trainees: *Looks around several times in confusion*

Overseer: Congratulations, you have just passed the first session of your training.

Silva: Hold on, (Raises voice) What the -blam!- is going on here?

Overseer (calmly): You and your fellow Trainees have just passed the induction session to get into the ODST training program. You current location is the barracks of UNSC Training Facility B.

Trainee (sarcastically): You gotta be kidding me….

Overseer: (Serious) I never “kid” Corporal. (Calm, and authoritative)

*Pauses*

This session was designed to test how much stress you could take before “braking”. Some of you did better then others, and some of you will be returning to your prior Battalions.

The “deceased” members of your squad were merely disabled by a paint pellet loaded with a paralysing agent.

Now, get some rest, we’ve got plenty to do tomorrow.
Screen fades to black.
