I spent 1500 bucks on a new computer w/ an x800 pro, sata raid 0 hard drives, pentium 4 3.0, 1024 megs of ram... the works, really, the works... and i must say, that playing Halo in 1600x1200 on a nice big monitor, the way it was meant to be played (excuse my copy right infringing, on both that and "call of duty" above) smoothy, with 5.1 high quality EAX audio and finally an optical mouse (no more ball wheel issues, woot) is without doubt an amazing thing, both in multiplayer and single player. I highly reccomend the experience to anyone, and even though i fault bungie for not "porting" (i know thats wrong dont nag me) halo well enough for pc, i do say that its worth every penny...

Bought my piece for $750cdn on the dot (with gst) as a Futureshop special. PIV 2.5 (oc 2.8) radeon 9200se, 256pc3200, and a gigabyte mobo. I play Halo at 640*480 with everything turned to low. Oh yea, my gpu is oc'd 225core and 220 mem. To get Halo to run at 34FPS average, that is what I had to do (as well as follow tweaktown.com's Reformat to Relax guide, and Relax to Righteous guide). I have put alot of effort into this machine, but Halo PC/CE is worth it!

I usually run a server, so i don't normally get lag. My PC isn't even a gaming rig and Halo runs fine.

For that amount of money I could have build you a better computer like mine.

AMD 2500+
SOYO 600 Dragon Plus
512 MB of Ram
200 GB ATA hard drive
Antec Black Case with 2 case fans and a Power Supply
NVidia 5600 FX.
2 Case Fans
You might say that i'm missing a sound and NIC card well they are integrated into the Mobo. It runs at 2GHz even.

Thats great there. Beats a Dell or any Gaming PC maker there. Looks like you're ready for Doom 3 and Half Life 2 when it hits.
