even if they were, the rings wipe out ALL sentient life. no forerunner would have survived the blast, if they were fired.

Yes, Halo wipes all sentient life, BUT not any sentient life ON Halo. They could have fired it, and then began their journy as the blast continues on in front of them at light-year speed. I'm not saying THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED, but I am showing how it is possible for such a circumstance to happen.[/color]
where does it say that life on halo isn't destroyed? i have read the books, and i know it's called a fortress world to keep the flood IN. let's try to make sense out of this. halo's were created to rid the world of sentient life in the event that the flood got out. why would you design a weapon that would destroy all life outside the ring, but not on the ring itself? that just doesn't make sense.
