This is a short preview to a fan fiction that I will be making. Edits coming soon. Please give comments on how my writing can improve, in a more imaginative sense as my goal is to immerse you in the story.

Sergeant Felix Grade 2 was pinned. This was fifth attack by the Covenant this week. His cover was melting beside him, and he felt his teammates anxious breath beside him. He turned to Private Samson.
“Are the charges ready?” Felix asked.
“Hooked Up and Ready, Sir” Samson replied.
A pelican flew overhead and landed about 100 yards behind their position. “C’mon, that’s our ride out of here!” Felix said. They got up and quickly sprinted toward the pelican, whose hatch was slowly lowering. “Squad, move out!” someone shouted. Felix heard the familiar explosions of grenades going off beside him. “Brutes!” screamed Samson. Felix heard the shouts of the brute commander’s to the grunts and jackals. “Hurry up!” The screams of marine shot by one of the Jackal’s plasma weapons rang through the air. Felix finally reached the pelican. A few moments later, Samson joined him, kneeling against the pelican, firing at the oncoming brutes.
Private Grade 2 Leon was running as fast he could toward that pelican. He knew that if he reached it, everything would be alright. He could smell the food at home base, greeting him at the narrow escape from death. He would enjoy his meal with his buddy, Frankie, who was running behind him. He was almost there. Just a little bit way to go. The words of his mother rang in his head, Stay safe, okay? Almost there. He remembered his first day in the army, and how he almost quit it was so hard. But when his colony fell to the covenant, he knew what he was doing was right. Back on Earth, where his parents resided, he knew he was a hero. He was a defender of humanity. A couple more feet to go. All these memories washed away when he saw the familiar green of the pelican in front of him. Slowly, he uttered,
“We Made it Frankie, We are here!” He did not, however hear a reply. “Frankie?” Leon turned around. He did not see anyone. “FRANKIE!” Leon called out in the distance. “Get in the bird, son.” Felix said. “No….no I have to find Frankie.” Leon ran back out in the battlefield. He saw a green silhouette in the distance. He ran as fast as he feet could take him. He remembered now. As much as he liked to think, his parents did not make it off the colony. They were there when it was attacked. Now they are not. He could not lose Frankie. Not now. They shadow of death loomed about. He finally reached Frankie, who lit up with brief happiness upon seeing his lifelong friend, quickly changed to despair.
“What are you doing here?” asked Frankie. “I came to save you!” cried Leon. “It is too late for me...” Frankie replied, with a quick glance to his dismembered leg. “NO! No, I won’t leave you here. I can’t. I won’t. I just can’t!” “No, I will not let you get rid your life for mine!” A shout of Brutes could be heard in the distance. “Run! NOW” “I can’t leave you brother!”
Felix sat at the bay of hatch. “They are not coming back, sir,” said Samson. Felix looked down. “I know Samson.” An awkward silence hung in the air. “Radio for lift off.” Felix felt the pelican rise up off the ground, and begin sailing through the air.
The brutes hovered over Leon. Frankie had died when the brutes shot their first grenade. Now the shattered remains of his body was in their grasp. The brute grabbed him and held him in the air and said,
“Human scum. Scourge of the Prophets. You deserve no mercy, for in the end, only the Covenant shall stand.” With a loud roar, the Brute drove the spike of his weapon into Leon, and he fell to the ground.
“Sir, its time to light the fireworks.” “Do it,” Felix replied. Nuclear Havok mines went off around the area, and the position was destroyed.
Felix laid on the cold grass, next to his brother. The Brute hovered over him still, chanting orders. Suddenly, a loud bang was heard, and Felix felt a wave of energy flush over him. And with a small smirk, he said, “I am coming home mom.”
