If I install the 1.05 update, the 1.08 update wont install and vice versa. UAC is disabled and I exit out of my AV/firewall when installing. The 2 links are screenshots of the failed patch. The installer decides Halo is "up to date" and kills the installation. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb318/vailspartan/HaloCEpa tcherror.jpghttp://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb318/vailspartan/HaloCEpa tcherrorB.jpgWhen I ran Halo before it didn't run all to well. FPS was solid, but gameplay was slow, laggy and had load spikes. I was running with one of the patches missing, like I had a choice^_^ (I reinstalled twice with each patch) there was no difference in gameplay.First off I need both patches to take. Then I can worry about getting Halo to run smoothly. Anyone have a similar problem getting a patch to take? rig specsVista 64 SP1Intel 2.83 QuadNvidia 9800 GX2RAM- 8gbPSU- 1000w[Edited on 02.14.2009 9:38 PM PST]
Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.
Try patching to 1.08 from a fresh installation.[Edited on 02.14.2009 9:58 PM PST]
I have, both ways. More then once starting with 1.05 and 1.08. I've also tried finding each patch standalone but no go.

reinstall and let the game auto update?[Edited on 02.14.2009 11:31 PM PST]
didn't know there was an auto update, good show hope it works'
I auto-updated and the 1.08 patch was applied. I found out patch 1.05 was bad and breaks upgrading so I should be fine. Set Halo CE in XP SP2 mode and gameplay is now solid. All's well that ends well I guess'
