If I could get an AGP card I would get a 9800 pro. I have heard nothing but good about it. I don't know what manufacters are good though. Compare the warrenties, specs (don't know if they would differ), and reviews. Google it too. You should also read that thread.

I would say any 5000 Geforce FX series would do - whatever card you buy you want to look for a few things...

Made by Nvidia or ATi
at least 128 MB of memory
DDR memory - NOT SDRAM!!!
AGP 8x - your motherboard may not support past 4x, but an 8x card will still run.

I use a Geforce Ti 4200 @ 8x AGP with 128 MB DDR and it runs Halo fine - I can't turn all the gfx all the way up, but it runs it well - and its over 2 years old now.

get a 6600 for the agp or a 6600 gt agp. Its 185.00 but it'll be worth it. Trust me! However, what about ur power supply? U need at least 300 watts for the 6600 gt.

the cheapest thing i have seen that runs halo at full options is the ATI radeon 9600 XT, which you can get for $159 here.

Don't get an Nvidia 5200 or even the 5500. They are cheap yes but they suck. I have both cards in my computers. The 5200 runs okly with low textures and particles and nothing else on 800x600. The 5500 can do everything on high exept for shadows and sometimes specular, but not get high FPS.

well, don't try to play with a fx 5500. Many parts of halo, (especially when u fight in the conevanant ships and major firefights where plasma, bullets, rockets etc. are everywhere. The FX series, have reasonable clock speeds, but are awful with transform and lighting and vertex shading. The FX's rendering options are limited. All the FX have bad shading etc. The reason the 5700 is better cuz it has better clock speeds. I suggest a geforce 6600 (normal) agp. Its about 140.00. Go on zipzoomfly.com and search for it there.

Unfortunately for me I only have PCI slots so I have to use the 5500.

Hero that's a bit high, 9600XT's run for under $120 at good prices on newegg and ZZF.

9800 Pro, if you can get a 6600 GT. It's the newest generation of cards so it will last a bit.
